My team decided today that the only way to win is to cheat and wipe as much paint as possible. Everyone else does so why shouldn't we?
you're exactly right.

Honor?!?!

"Nice guys finish last."

If you can consciously be ok with yourself and cheat... then no one on this forum can stop you.

Maybe that's the problem, if you see cheating as a way to win, then who are you cheating..youself. Come to think that is the problem with a lot of things these days....integrity. If you have to cheat to beat me...then I win on many levels.

Look at the Dyansty. People complain they cheat to win. So you want to be know as a cheat... COOL!!!

Perhaps... but if the majority (or even just a minority) cheats then how is your cheating a problem? If I know someone else is cheating to gain an advantage over me then I'll cheat right back... it's the only way to win or at least make it fair. You can't honestly say that one wouldn't...

Not to mention then we'd have to listen to you cry about the cheaters after they won, with their unfair advantage.

If you aren’t cheating your aren’t trying.

the funniest thing is that it's always the teams that don't make finals that say the reffing sucked, it's always the team that's not on the podium that says someone else cheated...shoot the people on the other side in the face and hang the flag...then at the end of the day you will be standing on the podium, and someone else can say the reffing sucked, or that you cheated...it's a vicious circle

Tha't my point Sparco! Here's an idea...let's not cheat. We have rule for a reason. If you can't live within those rules, then there should be MAJOR consequences...corked bat, tar on bat, steroids.....etc. If no one cheated then the sport would be pure.

HOWEVER, as long as the refs don't enforce the rules...what can ya do??

Medic... I'm all for not cheating, in fact I play as fair as possible. But the more I practice at the local fields the more I see the wiping, playing on, etc. So I too set my bounce as high as possible, carry allen wrenches in the fingers of my gloves, stuff pods in my primary, etc.

Do we like doing it... absolutely not, in fact we all feel terrible for doing it. But we all have agreed that it's better to do it with the other team doing it then be left in the dust. Plus... if you're both cheating on the same capacity, are you really cheating?

I'm not saying that you are bro...

I just choose to defend against it.

I can see your last point!! (LOL)

I played in a tourney this weekend and my team and I shake hands with the other team before and after every game . We may not be the best team on the field but we want to be known for being respectfull, honorable, and good sportsmen. We do not cheat. If we find out a fellow team member wipped then the whole team would come down on him. On the other hand if we catch another team cheating then we will just pass the word to the other teams. After a while the bad team will lose respect of the other teams and most important of all, they will lose respect of the refs.

im all for playing fair, sometimes you just cant win w/ out doing it against a team that cheats as well...

emperors ... our team is the same way as far as shaking hands and saying good game, but sometimes you feel like a completel cock when you say good game to the team you just rolled in like 30 seconds.

I know just what you mean. When that happens I try to talk to the other team a little. I ask where they are from and ask there names. Its a lot of fun and you can make a lot of friends that way. Try it , you won't be sorry. Next time they see you at a tourney, don't be surprised if they come up to you first just to talk and ask advice.

there's a difference between local events in state and National events...most of the local teams are usually pretty friendly towards each other because they know each other or see each other all the time...however at National events it's all business, and many teams don't wanna take the time of day to say anything other than "Good Luck" after the coin toss.

Emperors Champion

I have never played in an event like that but I have seen some Paintball DVDs where I've seen teams say things like "Lets take these Mother*****rs." and "These punks arn't Sh**". If I heard a team say that to my team then it would be on. The Marine me would lake over the paintball me and it would not be pretty for the other guys. They just better hope its a 7 or 10 man event.

Emmit
04-06-2004, 07:04 PM
and based on that statement I suggest you never play National ball....when we went to Huntington Beach just a few weeks ago we heard plenty of it....trust me, at the these types of events it's all about playing on Sunday, it's a business, and we mean business to. We're not there to have fun, we're there to WIN!!!! I fully expect every team we play to bring their A game, because I'm bringing mine, and so is the rest of my team.

Well I can't say I condone cheating....(ok I said it) now lets continue
"cheatin' aint cheating until you get caught" TRUE
If you plan on playing at a higher level, then you better get use to it..CHEATING IS AN INTERGRAL PART OF THE GAME...can't say I like it but you gotta accept it (at certain levels)
Its a skill like everything else..practice it.
Practice, Practice, Practice. Don't blame the other team of cheating because they put in more time to practice cheating and honing their cheatin skills.
Remember cheating is a skill like shooting skills. You need to practice it, it dosen't come natural.
If there should be blame, then it should fall on the refs...or even higher up the promoters, and rules committee.
The refs can't catch everything, so its hard to completely blame them.
But we would need stiffer cheating penalties.. 1 for 1 sure sounds a good trade off for gamble. Maybe it should be 1 for 3, 1 for 5, or automatic max for the other team if someone gets caught cheating.

Just my opinion...At this time...it does change from day to day

Again....I don't cheat. I don't like it...I hate to see it...

I'm sure your right , National Ball would not be for me. I like it just where I'm at. I have a job and would not have the time to fly all over the place and act like a jerk. I guess in that world , nice guys would finish last. :thumbsdow If some of them guys were so bad they should try joining the military, but not the Marines......because that takes HONOR.

Emmit
04-06-2004, 07:38 PM
we're not going to get into another debate about which service is better where you Marines end up butt hurt again are we?

Remember even the Navy's code of ethics is Honor, Courage, Committment. All military branches are based on Honor, some of these guys wouldn't make it in any branch you're right...but sorry to say I did over 4 years before my Honorable Discharge, and I enjoyed every minute of it!:patriot:

Sorry, I ment no disrespect to any branch. What ever you do , don't put me in the same class as that CPLWON guy you gave the boot to. He was even a jerk to me too.He was a smart a**.

Brethren....I know that there will be cheating. Just like there will be illegal drugs and so and so forth. I don't like those either and I will debate that issue. My point is this.. yes there is cheating. IS IT RIGHT!!!! NO!!!! I would hope that nobody could even argue that cheating is right. Does it happen, yes. Shamefully, YES!!

Will I do it no!!! In the long run, do for oneself. After that, it's up to you.

Thanks Champ!!

I would agree, there is no way to justify cheating.

I've never whiped but when I get shot I wont leave until the ref pulls me. The majority of the time though I really don't realize I've been shot because I usually get hopper hits. :(

The fact that people cheat just goes to show their lack of skill for the game and are dependent on cheating to win a game.

well, i just recently played a local event in ms. im not someone to complain, but we played a team that i have known about say a year and 1/2 from previous events. well, a guy slid into our fifty, and it was three on two we were d1, when he slid into our fifty, i know i hit him ( you can normally tell) well that guy shot out me and the last player on our team. at the end of the game, they checked him and saw that he was hit and they only pulled a 1 one for 1, this didnt do us any good cuz they still rolled us. o well, lets say next time when i see him walking off the field i might accidently throw him a few more balls :owned:

Honor is a good point medic, but I will paly with honor when I am playing for fun, but if there is money and/or prizes, I want to win, and if that includes cheating, well, so be it. In all honesty, most teams do cheat whether they admit it or not, it happens. As for your comparison to baseball, corked bats and tarred bats did get them in trouble, but all steroids did was get them in the record books.

cant say i havent cheated but i dont most of the time i abide by the rules but even if i feel or hear a hit on like my pack or back and dont flinch im still gunna play man because its an "unobvious hit" and u wont get penalized but it really is about honor that is a big part of paintball
