let me know if i missed the boat on this one...

is there a way to deal with items that have already sold that are still within the classifieds forums. or is this something that is done manually by the glorious and well deserving administrators ?

just curious. :puzzled:

hmmm thats a good idea maybe we can setup a system.. its gonna have to be manual but ... maybe we can have it so when you item sells you delete your own thread.

well if the item has sold, and you'd like someone to delete it we can certainly do that.

sorry for the lapse...

i would say that whatever is easiest for all of the administrators would be the best way to go. if matt set up some sort of system then that would be one less forum for you guys to have to check on the kids in or at least on a less frequent basis...

i would agree that this sort of system would be a little difficult to get going and time consuming and maybe just a little overkill for what we need. anyway as the system stands if the seller has a buyer and he posts ASAP then it should be apparent that the item is no longer available. somehow though, a change to the thread title would be the best in my opinion so that it is seen as soon as you go to the forum...

I agree. I am getting tired of deleting double topics. I am starting to see that J.Gruber is constantly reminding members about prices. I've also had to delete more than a handful of posts that do not follow the guidelines at all. If the members follow the guidelines it would make things so much nicer for everyone involved.

However in addition if I'm not mistaken members can delete their own posts correct? Well that means if you delete the first post in the thread guess what...the entire thread disappears.

I know I am not a Mod, but the other day I saw the same ad twice, and then another one. I said, "You have an exact thread on this, please chose one." Then I went somewhere else on the boards, came back and it was gone, so I guess one of the mod's picked it up.

Emmit, you are true about how member's can delete their own post's.

Warpedkid...that would be me...and that's actually the 2nd time he's done that. The same classified has been posted 3 times, but never deleted by the original poster. So his extra ones have been deleted by me

i'm sure you guys will stay on top of things. big ups to the mods and the admins for doing what you do and dealing with what you have to...maybe you should hire some "cleaners" just to take care of things of this nature...

Yep, from West Coast to East Coast we gotcha covered. I'm on for more than 10 hours daily and check everywhere. The classifieds are a tough forum to mod as well as the chat forum.
