View Full Version : Potential FLY Trigger problem

All lucky FLY owners,
I've found a potential problem with the trigger spring on the new FLY board.
The cops/sensi socket on the board has been replace with a larger socket to accept the new style eyes connector. This can give a problem where the end of the trigger spring presses against it, or catches on it at the end of the trigger pull. If you take the board out and have a good look with a torch (flashlight!) you will see what I mean.
If you have this problem, and both of my FLYs did, then the simple fix is bend the last 2mm (1/16"!) of the spring away from the eyes socket. It only needs bending a very small amount. It's simple to do with a small pair of pliers.
Just be very careful and take your time.
If anyone at WDP reads this, can you make a note of this please and change the spring design so it does not happen in the future. Having to fix 2 brand new Angels is pretty poor. :thumbsdow

nope....no screws on the trigger of the 4, just the wheels on the body of the marker.

what you need to do is adjust your trigger pull so that there is less slop in the back of trigger pull, as this will prevent the leaf spring from coming in contact with the socket

☼☼☼☼ yea the vernier wheels on A4's... But no springs is the main point.

The opto spring was touching the socket in such a way as to stop the marker fireing without having to give the trigger a hard pull.
Adjustment of the trigger made no difference.

The Force trigger has screws, the stock and Slayer do not. I know all about the screws in the Force trigger, you'll remember I am the one that mentioned them when I wrote about it.

if you're refering to a trigger return spring like that found in the LED, LCD and IR3 models then no, there is not one present since the Speed.

Both of the guns I looked at had the problem where the tip of the opto switch spring waseither pressing against or catching on the new style socket for the eyes. I knew there was a problem because on one of the guns the over travel could not be increased because the spring was pressing against the socket and would not allow the trigger to move back any further without squeezing quite hard. The other one's spring would catch on the socket and then slip past it causing the trigger to click back to it's firing point.
Basically I knew as soon as I started playing with the trigger setup that there was a problem. If your gun rips then just ignore this.
If you think you might have this problem then you really need to remove the board to get a better look at what's going on. Just be really carefull when removing and reinstalling the plugs into the board. It's actually quite tough but tell yourself it's not and you'll be OK.
Hope this helps.
