View Full Version : Is this operating pressure normal?

I keep on hearing about people running their Speeds on relatively low operating pressures. However, in order to get my velocity up to 300fps, I have to crank the pressure from the inline reg up to 300psi or just a shade under that. Is that normal? I'm running a HP output 68/4500 tank, but since my inline reg is a Palmer's Stabilizer, I can adjust the input pressure to whatever I want.

My LPR pressure is set at 60psi and my dwell is set at 16ms. My efficiency isn't great, but it's not too horrible. Off of a perfect 3000psi fill, I get about 5 pods and a full HALO.

The efficiency doesn't bug me as much as the pressure does, but any help/comments/etc. concerning either or both issues will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

HP tanks don't work well with Speeds. You can do a mod to your minireg to make it work better (do a search for 'minireg mod') or turn your dwell down. Lower dwell should improve efficiency, also, though it's less gentle on paint. Best thing, if you can afford it, would be to get a LP or adjustable air system.

i think u forgot to read the middle half of his post.... he has a palmer stabalizer reg... no need for mini reg mods

are you using a volumizer?

Oops, forgot to mention that I'm using a Dirt volumizer. And yes, it's on the correct side.

Ooops. Didn't forget to read it, just forgot to comprehend it. :pat: I just see that question about HP tanks so often I go into 'auto suggestion' mode.

You could get ahold of a gauge and get your Stab to output 300psi. Or, lower your dwell or get a LP tank.

Try turning your LPR about 5psi. That might help as well.
