What is the white stuff on the macro 90 fitting which goes into your tank? Is it teflon tape?

yes, prevents air leaks.

on the stock fitting it seems like a white paste that has dried. What is that, since I know what teflon tape is.

it's liquid teflon, it works great because when it dries it performs exactly like teflon, I used to use it in a lot of different applications for air lines.

Where can I get liquid teflon?

Check your local hardware store like Home Depot.

plumbing supply stores most likely.

Its nicer than regular teflon tape because you don't have to worry about which way you wind the teflon onto the threads.

how much tape should you put on the threads? Like twice around?

Why would you have to worry about which way you put the teflon tape on? Also, is this the right stuff? TFE White Teflon Paste?

sounds like the right stuff

and yes you do have to worry...if you put teflon tape on in one direction it comes right off when you screw the fitting in, if you put it on in the right direction it meshes in between threads and works the way it's supposed to.

how much do you put on the threads?

how much what?

the liquid stuff you put enough on to coat the threads and then let it dry.

tape 2 or 3 times around is typically enough.
