I think this is the most used term in paintball. Has anyone else noticed that everything made by Brass Eagle or Vieloader now carries the term "tournament Grade"? What exactly does that mean? Does it simply mean "you could theoretically play with this in a tournament"? Because, I could theoretically use my blow gun in a tournament too, but I don't consider it to be "Tournament Grade". I'm not bashing anything, I just think that's very interesting. That may increase the sell of those markers to 13 year olds. But I feel that anyone with any paintball knowledge at all knows that the Viewloader Triton II is not trtuely a tournament quality marker. I think Brass Eagle Paintballs even carry the term "tournament grade" on them. There should be some official grading system. I know that'll never happen, but it sure would be nice. Have markers rated on a 1 to 10 scale for a couple different areas. Efficiency, looks, bps, etc. I think that'd be cool. I'm just sick of walking through Wal-mart and everything I see is "Tournament grade", even though it's see-through plastic and $29.99. I know I shouldn't care, and I should just keep on walking by the paintball aisle, and not say anything, but it really gets to me sometimes. But there's nothing cooler than walking down by the paintball stuff and seeing a 12v with X board for 6.99 because the people at Wal-mart didn't know what it was, and just stuck it in with their other hoppers. Needless to say I bought 4 of them  That was all they had. I was so proud of myself when I got home. Anyways, back on topic, I just think it's really sad how some lower end companies feel the need to trick little kids into buying their products by plastering "tournament grade" or "professional grade" All over their stuff, when in fact, it's neither.

It's got the same value as saying "new and improved". Not just a paintball thing.

That's why there is also the term "educated shopper".

Yeah, i just get a good laugh every time I look at all the tournament grade equipment at Wal-mart. my conclusion: If it says Tournament Grade, DON'T BUY IT!! Angels don't have "tournament grade" or "competition marker" stamped on it. Neither do cockers, or the Matrix, or any other real tournament markers.

hehe

same reason you don't see 'performance fleece' or 'rugbys' being marketed on TV by Gucci instead of Old Navy.
