I gotta get it off first but i dont think that will be too hard...anyways im just wondering, should i use blue loctite or some teflon tape when i put on the new feedneck? Which is more likely to remain secure? Im thinking blue loctite but teflon tape has never failed me...

thx.

first off good luck getting it off the body. its not as easy as it sounds. but some peoples are easier than others. second i'd actually go with red locktight becuase the blue wont hold it as well as you think. but if you want the blue go ahead. the teflon wont work as good becuase the threads are soo small and it would show in that crack between the body and where the rise screws in. thats my opinion though.

Ok, first loc-tite and teflon tape are used for two different things IIRC. For taking the neck off the body you're going to need a low power torch to heat up the loc-tite they used in order to keep it there in the first place. Loc-tite is used to secure threads while teflon tape is used to creat a seal between the threads. So if you're wanting to secure something in place use loc-tite. If you want to create a seal between to threaded pieces then use teflon tape.

Second, you're not going to get the feed neck off that easily. Its loc-tited with red loc-tite their strongest stuff. I took mine to Warped LA and Jingle took off the neck with a low power torch and charged me $5, so I got it done professionally with out stripping the threads, or damaging the finish.

I just used vice grips and a blow-dryer. Took me about 2 minutes.

The idea of vice grips and a rather gentle dust finish kind of puts me off, even if it is wrapped in rubber.

True, but I didn't scratch mine up, then again I wasn't saving the stock feedneck.

when i had my lcd i was trying to get the rise off and i took a break and went back to my garage and found my grandfather in there with rise off. he used vice grips.... he mauled the hell out of the stock rise.....i wanted to kill him. i save everything too, if you do the vice grips you better make sure youve got something between the vice grips and the rise. unless you dont care about the rise, in that case throw it in a regular vice and clamp away

-blow dryer on high for about 1 minute
-Strap wrench

took me less than 2 minutes, do i win woogie?

edit: Also, i didnt scratch a thing so no worries.

Do this and you wont have the probs of ruining a feedneck.

I'd have had no problem with that except that the threads on the feedneck are so thin that it looks like if you put too much force on them they'll strip right out.
