Do the Angel Eyes work differently because it seems like there are two parts to it, at least one on each side of the marker. Most eyes I've seen are only one, at least only one side has the eye cover.

it's a break beam system, not a reflective system..

Break Beam:

Transmitter | -----> | receiver = NO Fire
Transmitter | -(BALL) | receiver = Fire

Reflective:

Transmitter/receiver | -------> = NO Fire
Transmitter/receiver |<->(BALL) = Fire

Sorry for the crudeness of the drawings but I think you get the idea. IMO Break beam is better because paint color/ shell color/ out of roundness does not matter. Reflective systems (like the ones smart parts uses) have had problems in the past with seeing dark colored/dimpled paint.

Vikings, Intimidators, Bushmasters, Matrices uses the break beam system as well. I believe SP and WGP use reflective, though.

Does a break beam system require a receiver eye on the other side? I never noticed any of the above markers having something on the other side.

yea beam break does require a second eye... one sender, one receivor, all of those above guns, minus sp and wgp, have 2 eyes. one on each side

If you use a Viewloader hopper they use a break beam sensor to sense the paint moving. The halo uses a reflective, which is why you are cautioned on using darker paint in the halo.

If you've ever looked at a vision equipped Impulse you'd notice one side has the eye cover and the other side has a silver colored plate directly under the ball detent. Wheras if you look at Vikings or Intimidators they have the full eye-cover on each side.
