Those who have used both what do you like better?
I am getting my evo-2-tomrrow I also bought the z board.
since the evo holds 195 rds, does it feel heavier? Ive also read where some say you need to get used to the weight in the back since the evo sits farther back.
what do you have to say?

this has already been discussed a jillion times on other threads, but what the heck, i have used both, and i like the evo2, for the reason that it doesnt double feed, doesnt hurt ur sensi, and still cheaper then a halo b. but personally once the angel eye kits are available ill prolly go back to halo.

I like my EVO 2. It doesn't add any noticeable weight IMO. But really though, there are a lot of comparison threads. There is a slightly different feel to it with it sitting back. But you get used to it quickly. SEMPER FI!!

Personaly, I think the Evo II is lighter than the Halo's. 2nd, The Evo gives you a slighter lower profile IMO and with my X board I would not even think about wasting the money on a Halo.
Last but not least. LCPL USMC RET?????? What are you a Med retiree, psyco discharge or something???? Something about that fish dont smell right :notsure: , LCpl's dont retire there you-hoo!!! What was your m.o.s. and who were you stationed with??

Very well then!! I figured it had to be a med discharge/retiree. Well those are the breaks. I've lost too many good Marines that way!! And for some motivational reading for all you yoo-hoo's, SEMPER FI!!! And to those who appose this, YOU KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO!!!!!!!!!!

"MARINE RIFLE CREED"

This is my rifle
There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My rifle is my best friend.
It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life.
My rifle, without me is useless.
Without my rifle, I am useless.
I must fire my rifle true.
I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me.
I must shoot him before he shoots me.
I will....
My rifle and myself know that what counts in war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make.
We know that it is the hits that count.
We will hit....
My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life.
Thus, I will learn it as a brother.
I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel.
I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage.
I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready.
We will become part of each other.
We will....
Before God I swear this creed.
My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country.
We are the masters of our enemy.
We are the saviors of my life.
So be it, until there is no enemy, but Peace!

I recommend you saw the neck down on the Evo II to help offset the weight. Lowering the center of gravity greatly reduced the "back heavy" feel. Just make sure you cut the neck to where the ball stack is picked up by the eye, or else the loader will constantly try to feed.

Secondly, I recommend sanding the lid latch slightly. I found with my Evo II it required a great deal of force on the lid to open it quickly. Now I have it where all I need to do is tap it and it releases. I frequently will shoot the last 50-75 rounds with the lid already down (remove springs!) as reloading is much easier.

Hey Im gunna have to give that a try Sparco. How much did you take off of your neck??? Also does the lid stay closed pretty good with the springs off?

The lid is fine without the springs, much of the work is done with the lip to hold it closed. I took off about an inch.

Geez, all these Jarheads in here. "Shudder" I could hear the IQ hit the deck. We got rid of all ours we had on board. lol, I feel the love. ET2 Schnug, USS Boxer.

I prefer the HALO, I really hated the egg, it just felt cheap. Weight doesn't bother me on my setup, as long as it balances out.

I gotta go w/ the Egg on this one. I took the springs off of mine, too and it made opening it a lot easier w/out having to sand down the latch. The LHA's aren't bad ships, either. At least you get to watch the AV-8's take off and land.

I've tried both on my F4 and it hated the Halo B (z'd and ripped) and now switching to the Evo 2 (Z-coded) it seems to work hella better. Tried a few changes to get the Halo to work but to no avail. Besides that snapped 2 lids in 2 weekends on the Halo for some reason? So after my initial investment of $100 then another $55.00 in upgrades & new lids I still ended up selling it for the Evo 2. Evo 2 might be slower but I just adapted, a couple balls a second aint gonna matter to be honest.

Thats weird, my Evo II with x-board seems to rip on my buddies halo all day??? Besides, I just cant stand the Halo's, overpriced for crap I believe.
