View Full Version : Just got my led
Well, I just got my 98 dark led in the mail. Great looking gun. Got a few questions though:
I have a 68/3000 tank, that had 2000 pounds in it. I got 2 hoppers off, and my tank was empty. Is that normal? Also, I'm used to shooting a cocker, but this thing sounds like it's exploding with every shot. And air comes from somewhere on the left side of the gun. It's quite a bit of air coming out too. I'm thinking that's why I'm losing so much air on every shot. Does something just need to be adjusted? Dwell maybe? Anyways, how efficient are these things supposed to be? I mean, do I NEED to go get a 4500 to be able to get any shots out of this thing? Thanks,
Jeremy

you should be able to shoot your 68/3000 for a while. I would suggest at minimum you consider upgrading to either a 4500, or a 114/3000.
As for checking your marker, your dwell pot should probably be somewhere in the middle (that's where I left mine for a long time.) Here's a good way to set your dwell...turn the dwell all the way down, air up the marker, and fire it, the bolt shouldn't cycle. Now slowly turn the dwell up until the gun actually fires, and the bolts cycles etc. Now put paint in it, and shoot it over the chrono. You need to set your dwell so that you're shooting about 280-290 with the velocity screw on the mini-reg about half way. That will give a good dwell, and a good velocity consistancy.
Cool, thanks for the help. I think I'll look into getting a 68/45 over the next couple of weeks. Maybe I'll get AIR, who knows.

When i got my LED i was using an 88ci 3k tank. I was getting a lot of shots out of it, playing a day with it. I did upgrade to an 88 4500 and wow i have lots of air now. Emmit def. has some good advice and i would do what he says...that is how i did it.
I guess my biggest concern was that there is a lot of air coming out the side of the gun whenever I pull the trigger. Out of the left side. Atleast, that's where I'm noticing it. Is that normal?

Are you sure that it's not coming out of the top. The 14-way vents out the two top holes with every shot. You will also get just a bit of air around the rotobreech, because on Angels there is no o-rings on the bolt. So air can just go around the bolt and vent out of the gaps in the rotobreech. It does sound like she's using a bit too much air though(but then again, if you're like me, you're shooting way more dry shots then you think). Try setting the dwell, like I mentioned in my e-mail. Angels(particularly LED's) aren't the most effecient markers around. My LCD only gets one good string when my 88 is at 1k. Set the dwell though. I put a better flowing valve and valve stem(stock parts, just opened up for better flow) in the LED before I sold it to you(free upgrade), so you're likely venting too much air with each shot. Once you have a certain amount of air, any more air behind the paintball is useless. So if the valve is flowing more air then needed, it's just wasting it. Try the dwell, then check your shot count again. Have fun with the Angel man....

are those shots you fired all dry fire shots? if so, that is why you got so few shots and why it is so loud. when you actually fire paint you will find that the angel is very quite and much uch more efficient. i think the cause of the air venting out of the side of the marker could be from a broken or missing breech o-ring. if you open your rotabreech, you will see the hole that the air passes through to get the the bolt. around this hole there should be an o-ring jammed in a groove. if all you see is an empty groove, you are missing an o-ring. that happened to me when i bought my led. cheap replacement too. i believe that detent o-rings (if your detent has one) will fit the breech o-ring if you cant get a replacement, but i have only heard this and not actually verified it. in adition to that, like the above have said, check your dwell and stuff to make sure its in good working condition. it is nice having a 4500, i suggest a 88/45...like a stubby of some sort. they offer a great amount of shots in a generally tight package. just my opinion though..good luck with your LED

Yes dry firing will utterly destroy your air consumption....drop a hopper of paint through it, and you'll notice a significant difference.....
I checked the O-ring on the rotabreach, and it's fine. But I did pinpoint exactly where the air comes from. If you're holding the gun like you're shooting it, on the left side, on the bottom of the rotabreach, side toward the detent, you can see a silver rod, which is what the rotobreach hinges on. Right where you can see that little bit of silver showing through is where it leaks from. I've got a picture of where it's leaking from here:

It's not really a leak. Leak is usually constant. This is only when I pull the trigger and the gun fires. Its like the gun just has some extra air so it blows it out the side. But that o-ring is fine inside the rotabreach. Thanks for any help guys. I'm going to go set my dwell tomorrow morning at the field.

yes that air "leaking" is just the extra air escaping from around the bolt. put some paint in it, and you won't notice it so much.
Ok, col, thanks Emmit. I noticed it yesterday while I was shooting paint through it. But my dwell was also extremely high. So, I turned it down, and now the air coming from there is very minimal. And when I just tested it, it was in my room, with no paint. So, hopefully when I shoot some paint through it it'll be perfect. Thanks again,

yeah if your dwell was all the way up, and you're shooing blanks, you really need to set the dwell with pain in the marker over the chrono
