Can anyone verify that the fly 4 will be able to operate on LPR settings lower than 50? That sounds pretty impresive...

The Fly 4 has the same internals as an A4. So if you were running your A4 lower than that....go ahead. Personally..I never go that low due to risk of shootdown. You can go as low as you want as long as the angel will shoot normally.

pppeter, not according to the specs released it doesn't! Fly has different internal galleries, which I presume is what allows it to run at under 50psi

the gun that we shot was running somewhere around 40.it has been tested lower than that.

Nice!, thanks
the diverter plate/assembley is now not needed as the cops sensor has been removed.

So how low will the inline reg be set at? sub 100?

What is the usual amount of psi needed to chop a ball? 50? 40? 60? If I could get it low enough, I'd just turn "angel eyes" off.

No, it will actually be about the exact same as the Angel 4. My LPR was actually running fine on my 4 below 50 at one point. I raised it a bit because it just made me feel better. :)
I also looked at the Fly manual on WDP's site and it claims the same expected pressures from the minireg that the Angel 4 did.

Edited because I found the answer :)

If you turned the eyes off, and you had a perfect setup that would stop on a ball rather than chop it, then you would have to open the rotobreech after every shot that crimped a ball. With eyes on, you'd never crimp a ball.
So the best option is, eyes on, and just in case they fail, an LPR set low enough that you can't chop.

It appears as though the LPR spring stack has been reconfigured to assist in the lower LPR. I wonder if a similar setup can be configured on the A4, as the bodies appear to be identical.
That'd be logical, no?

Ya, they added to discs to the spring stack. Now, its just like the stack in the minireg.
Sparco, it would be interesting if it would work in a A4. The only problem I see is that it would get shutdown because the Fly's gas galleries are supposed to be bigger than the A4. The A4 might not be able to move enough volume fast enough.

Since you usually adjust the LPR with 350psi at the flash tank gauge, how will the LPR be adjusted without the guage?

same way people have adjusted the LPR for years before that gauge existed. By using a regulator set to the desired pressure. Most shops have a tool of some sort that they screw into the flash tank and completely bypass the minireg to begin with and then they set their pressure where it needs to be and voila!

Ok...as I have said a hundred times I am new to angels to please to flame.
There is no tech in this area that I can go to for help and adjustment. I want to buy the "new" force so I will always have the MT to help me but I don't like sending things through the mail.....etc. How to you know what is going into the marker through the mini-reg without a guage? Will the same angel took kit work for adjusting the LPR??
Because I am new to angels and don't want to mess mine up when it comes I do plan to shoot it stock and then maybe tweak it after some use. Do you expect the Fly or the new Force to be that hard to work on??
I am use to my Impulses which are like 10 parts if I am lucky....the angel is far more complicated (ahhh superior) piece of equipment...

Jukie, do you have access to an adjustable tank? If so, just unscrew the minireg screw until its flush with the minireg's body and use the tank's gauge to adjust the gun to the desired pressure.

Jukie, Angels are the lowest maintenance marker you are likley to ever come across. If you get a Force 4 it will be set up sweet from day 1. All you have to do is shoot fools with it and put a couple of drops of love juice in the ASA every 2-3 months.
I think it is highly likely it will use the same toolkit, no reason for it not to. If you have a toolkit, there is nothing you can't fix/change yourself that is in the manual.

We don't do that around here. Welcome to the family.

Okay, a few things here:
Your marker will come set up with whatever settings you ask the MT from whom you buy it to put on there. You should not have to change anything on the gun when you pull it out of the box, other than the "velocity screw". (In quotes because, now that I know how it works, it seems wrong to use so simplistic a term.)
LPR pressure settings are actually covered in the "unlimited tune-ups" portion of the warranty (along with setting of the inline regulator pressure, adjusting ram stroke, and adjusting dwell). So if you wanted them changed, you could always just ship your gun to an MT and they'd do it for free, as many times a year as it strikes your fancy.
Without the gauge, the Fly is certainly harder gun on which to adjust the LPR. Don't worry about it; if you get a Force 4, it'll come from the MT's set up with the LPR pressure you want, and that's not a setting that degrades over time, even if you completely remove the LPR for cleaning. That is to say, you should never have to reset your LPR, period.
And yes, the same tool kit will work.
Because I am new to angels and don't want to mess mine up when it comes I do plan to shoot it stock and then maybe tweak it after some use. Do you expect the Fly or the new Force to be that hard to work on??
My Force 4 is a joy to work on. All Angels are. (Well, except for that snap-ring business, which they tell me is a, *ahem*, female dog, on those thankfully-extremely-rare occasions when it breaks or needs adjusting.) I can have my whole Angel in parts in under 5 minutes, I can put it back together in 5 minutes, realize I forgot the ^%&@# sensi rod, take it back apart in under 5 minutes, then put it back together in 5. Idiot's time-to-repair: 20 minutes. Normal person's: 10.

WoW.....Thanks for that very detailed info. I am so in love with the angel that I would probobly buy one if it didn't even work. I don't know why, but I have a freaking crush on a paintball marker  . I have had several Impulses and I have no complaints, quiet, consistent, great distance, accurate with freak.....etc. The marker has become so simple to me that I am actually bored with it. I want something more advanced.
I played some indoor paintball today and there was a guy with an A4. I asked him how he liked it and he said that he loved it....never had a single problem. He was shooting a Halo and still no problems with Sensi. I was so psyched, I was going to ask to shoot it a few times at the range after I had a few games in. After the first two games he had chopped like crazy and the marker was all gooed up. He was working on the marker all day....I got a little freaked. After I talked to him I realized he had no clue what he was talking about. They guy was a total hack....it worried me but I think I will put that one dude behind me. It appeared the marker did not work at all and was on auto-blend or something. Again.....I think this was a freak thing.
Thanks for the help.. I want one of the new MT flies but in gloss black, black to silver fade or reverse?? I just have this think for gloss.
Thanks again for all the help...
