Introduction to Angel-Eyes - A break-beam Optical system like no other
Angel-Eyes - A dynamic pro-active operation that constantly self-adjusts to the feed rate of your loader, to guarantee a no-chop operation.
Due to the Fly’s rechargeable Metal Hydride power supply the Angel-Eyes break-beam is so powerful it can sometimes be seen with the naked eye. It will see through paint, grease, dirt and debris. No other eye system can match the Angels EyeQ. Only the finest optical components have been used, to ensure Angel quality. A profiled flexible polymer cover prevents damage from paint or impact.
The Powerful Angel-Eyes system is controlled by the new Fly Board, the fastest, most intelligent and user friendly board ever devised, with achievable fire rates up to 31bps*
*Governed only by loading system.
This new technology is packed tightly into the smallest, lightest Angel ever.
Fact - The Fly can cycle and fire paintballs faster than any other paintball marker.
There are 2 reasons for this.
Fact - Due to its design, the Angel has a shorter firing Cycle time than any other paintball marker.
Fact - EyeQ works differently to other eye systems. There is no fixed ‘delay’ built into the cycle time. EyeQ uses new technology to replace the traditional delay used by all other eye systems, further increasing rate of fire.
Also included
'Laid Back’ Slayer trigger
6 modes of fire
14” Infinity Barrel
Modified Anti-JamTwin Anti-Double-Balls
Custom Fly Back-plate.
20 De-bounce settings for Xtreme fire rates (where permitted)
Ultra Safe Store Demonstration Mode – The Fly will dry-fire at an insane rate, to offer the store customer a true reflection of its awesome firepower, but will not fire if a ball is present.

to be released at nppl in hunnington beach.
this thing shoots darts.i have had the plesure of shooting it and its wonderful.the quality of the eye/ribbon system is second to none.very hi-tech beam, refered to as a poor mans laser.this beam is powerful.and again quality is second to none.the retrofit kit will be worked out in hunnington beach and we will post all the information here at that time.and btw this is no 9 volt conversion.the fly utilizes the nmh battery for strong powerful eye/beam performance with the display and all the bells and whistles we are use to.

Im sure the kit will be available for speeds, since it is the same battery, and same solenoid(for the most part) However, a proffessional WDP eye and faster board would be a great upgrade for my iR3. Will this be possible? Or will I also have to change out the batter and solenoid?

Man, its going to cost 300-350 more than an A4? I was really hoping for it to be only 100 more than the A4 since the biggest change seemed to be with the eyes.

03-12-2004, 02:10 PM
Yeah - it is a shame it is that much more. I'm guessing the Force 4 versions will be similarly priced?

A MAP generally means that the shops stand to make a killing on this one. They're trying to prevent the price undercutting that occurred very quickly on the A4's and Speeds, and that really bit into their retailers' profit margins (and particularly into those of fields, since they can't really compete against Internet companies' prices).
So, good news: shops probably aren't paying much more for this than for A4's. (I haven't seen a price sheet that includes the Fly, though, so I dunno.)
Bad news: It'll still be expensive for the players.
Good news part 2: Expensive... unless you have a good relationship with your friendly local MT and he'll cut you a deal, like throwing in a free Evvy or some Force clothing, or something else to sweeten the deal a little. ;) Hey, it can't hurt to ask!

A killing? Perhaps you're looking at different numbers than I am. In my experience with dealer accounts (retail in general), most stores will make 20 to 80% (points) on an item. My experience with paintball is that the typical dealer makes 22-26% when selling at MSRP with "big customers" potentially making 26-38% based on the item.
I don't know of any shop that makes a killing on selling markers, unless you've moving a lot and setting up lucrative warranty programs.

So if dealers can buy flys for 900 from wdp (hypothetically) and make 35 points it should come out to about 1200 right? Unless in this case since its brand new its getting a lot more marked up in the beginning?
wdpbrad
03-12-2004, 02:57 PM
the flys gonna be the same price as the 4s were, when the 4s came out i remember them selling for like 1395 maybe 1350 and then they droped to like 1150, so i dont know what everyones sayin theyre gonna be 300 bucks more for. its the same price as before.

Hard to say, I'm not at liberty to disclose the dealer mark up on WDP products, that would violate my distributor agreement with the company. As a matter of fact, my pricelist does not even feature the FLY (yet) so I couldn't even comment even I knew.
There are several factors in selling markers, I'm sure the MTs can further relate to this then someone like myself.

oh man u guys are complaining about this gun possibly costing u $1350...us canadians have to pay $1,800!!! and then GST on top of that so it's more like $2,000! this is just one of those times i wish i lived in the US, u say u can get A4's there for $1,150? i had to pay $1,250 for my custom fade speed. so i'm just gonna say u guys should be happy that u're down there and ONLY paying $1,350. still tho this gun looks like it's going to rip and i may just have to pick one up :biggthump

let me give ya all a wake up call.there is no such thing as 25% in the high end marker market.no one is making a killing on this one.not to seem to run to the companys defense although i always do,the eyes and harness that went into this are expensive as well as re designing the board with a zif (zero insertion force) socket into the top of the board. this ment not only redesigning the board it required a molding change on the plastic case for the board.so jason, theirs your answer about how the ribbon connects to the board lol.also it took months to get a manufacture to do eye covers.these are not just your run of the mill plastic covers they are molded rubber.then came the numerous software changes and r&d to get it perfect not just like everyone elses.so theres the hart true facts.we all want the best we just have to be willing to pay for it.but in my view its all worth it.like i said earlier not to be bragging but eric and myself shot it last week and i honestly had goose bumps after shooting it.tk can vouch for my ability to shoot an angel fast but this was really mindless.it just felt natural, the hard part was trying to stop and not overshoot.it will be the balls for snap shooters and off the break becuse it just rains paint.sound exciting?it was just too short of a time.

I mentioned the gauge to Ken the other day and he said weight and price. What some of you guys don't understand is that each piece costs money to not only make, but to install etc. Gauges of that size that are accurate are not cheap at all.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. My point was that, compared to previous generations, where my friend told me that some of the prices for A4's on the Internet were $50 over cost, the enforcement of an MAP on this release will mean that retailers will be making enough on this gun (say, anything over $200) that they will be able to offer service warranties and other things that went out the window when it was all about price, price, price.
I certainly didn't mean to imply that retailers were making $800 a sale or anything like that; I just meant that this time around, the MAP will ensure that they aren't losing money every time they send an Angel out the door. (I figure a warranty probably costs $150 over the lifetime of a gun, on average.)
My sincere apologies to any retailers who thought I was trying to say that they were taking advantage of their buyers. That was certainly not my intent!

i think the reason is that being the fly the intent is to make the gun as small as possiable and as light as possiable to stay with the past fly themes.also some of the big handed players had some trouble with their hold on the mini reg.
i edited emmitts post without asking him as i told him the info that he posted so i wanted it to be correct and updated. ken

don't get hit and you don't have to worry about that....
besides, with something someone else brought up...if this marker was indeed designed with the intentions of luring X-ball teams (ACE, smooth lines easy to clean etc) then there are some things like the gauge, and the swoop etc that they had to remove.

I found the pics.....thanks!! Does anyone know if they plan to make a gloss black or silver or a black to sliver fade.....that would be cool. I have yet to own a gloss marker....every freaking marker I have owned has been matte and I am so tired of that finish.
I would love to see one of the MT markers come out in gloss silver to black or gloss grey to silver or gloss grey to black... All of those colors look cool to me.
So MT got that new force all worked out yet?? I am so impatient...I want one now.

Since I'm poor, what I'm prolly gonna do is just save over spring, get a job this summer and get the newer angel thats eventually gonna come out, because you know this gun sadly enough will become obsolete in about 5-6 months I thnk...I don't know, retro fit would be nice no doubt, but my sensi works fine and it can be just a back up when I get my new gun...although once I do get my new gun, I eventually will get the retro fit probably anyways.
