On Sunday, February 22nd, Angel-Owners will celebrate 2-years as an online community. It was always a dream of mine to organize meet & greets similar to the ones you see from other online groups (not just paintball). Unfortunately, the time and effort to organize such an event was never possible but the interest was always there.
So, in honor of the 2 year anniversary in which Matt, myself and three sponsors started Angel-Owners.com I'd like to propose our first offical meet & greet for any Angel owner. In an attempt to make the first one the best and open up the location to as many people as possible, the following dates and locations are being discussed:
March 13-14 (weekend after PSP, weekend before NPPL)
March 27-28
April 17-18
April 24-25 (weekend before PSP)
The weekend would consist of a Saturday night gathering at a public venue of sorts near the field, such as Dave & Busters, Jillians, ESPN Zone, etc. It would be age friendly and family suitable. Venue for Sunday would be walk-on, BBQ lunch and a field that allowed BYOP or a group discount rate ($10-$20 entry/air & $30-$60 case).
In addition to the dates, these are the following venues that are being considered:
Pev's Paintball (VA)
Outdoor Adventures (MD)
Paintball Wholesalers (MD)
Dels Hobbies (NJ)
Top Gun Paintball (NJ)
PBX Battlezone (NJ)
Cape Cod Paintball (MA)
Our goal is to encourage the biggest crowd, while keeping driving to a somewhat centralized location. Obviously not everyone can be accomodated but that's why future "regional" events would be scheduled. A So Cal gathering would be ideal for May/June based on the success of the first event.
So that I can get a feel for schedules and locations, please post your location and which date works best for you. Target is 25 participants on the same date and same field. Dates were choosen to allow players to participate in the national events and Easter weekend. However, I personally have no problem organizing a gathering on the same weekend as a national event.
I have asked Ken to create a "meets" sub-forum somewhere on AOG, at which point I fancy this thread to move there.

I have no real preference on date; I have a very flexible schedule.
Insofar as location, though, I'd like to argue against Pev's and in favor of Skyline. They're much more Angel-friendly at Skyline, and I've had much better experiences with them, as well. To boot, they have an excellent website at www.skylinepaintball.com.
But, as I said, I have a flexible schedule; just give me enough lead time to prepare and I'll be there. :)

I don't care about the date, but I say del hobbies or pbx. They're both great fields and are in the vicinity of DE, MD, VA, PA, and are in NJ.

I honestly feel that this is a little short notice:sad:
and as of right now I know that do not have the funds to attend such an event with my current schedule with my team as I'm currently tying all my finances towards HB at this point.

Maybe you will have to coordinate one in Houston. I guess I could help instead of pushing the load on you.

Jouster, well you're obviously biased for Skyline due largely to the fact that it's your home field. However if a large enough group would find attending another venue due it's more "centralized" location that would rule in favor. I'm familar with your area and it's nowhere near central for MD, VA, NJ, DE, PA.
I merely suggested one of these venues due to my location. As if I were to coordinate it, I deem it only fair that my ability to attend be considered. As it is I'd consider the 550 mile (each way) haul to the Cape.
Obviously the venue can't be everyone's local field, that's just not possible. But as a fellow paintballer I know very well how as paintballers we often drive unreasonably far sometimes to get in a day of play. Thus scheduling a location where some of the participants drive in excess of 100 miles each way is not unreasonable, as I'm fully prepared to drive in excess of 200 or whatever necessary.
As for the notice, one of those dates is in April and it's still February. That's more than enough notice for most people. Obviously I'd love to see you again Emmit but accomodating you (in TX) for a central east coast meet is near impossible.
Thus the event would be within a 200 mile radius of DC (ideally) and the target audience would be anyone willing to drive and "meet/greet" fellow AOGers. Otherwise, you have my blessing to coordinate a meet/greet in your region at any point in time.
goes for anyone...

Actually, I drive quite a ways to Skyline, and it's quite centralized. It's at the intersection of 81 and 64, SW of DC. It's literally a mile from the exit ramp to the entrance to Skyline.

I'll also throw out that OAI in Bowie seems like a good idea, since it's the home field of Arsenal.

While I have no problem driving to Skyline I believe you've misunderstood my definition of centralized. If we had 12 people coming from NY/NJ and 12 people coming from MD/VA/DC, Skyline is not centralized. A place like Dels would be, in this scenario.
I'm leaning towards South Jersey if we can get enough interest, or OA.
for anyone who hasnt played at ccpb it is a great venue.

CCPB would be a stretch, I merely suggested that venue because it's Ken's place. But someone else would have to organize the event. So it'll be at one of two venues:
Outdoor Adventures in Bowie, MD (http://www.oapaintball.com)
- or -
Someplace in NJ
I need to talk with TG about a group discount rate, I use to play TG weekly when I lived in NJ and I refuse to pay their horribly inflated prices for a group gathering.

I'm in south-east NC, but I'd try and make it MD. NJ would be a stretch, but it'd be worth the trip.

you should definitely go for OA, since that is where arsenal practices from what i hear, and then maybe we could play a few games with them...if that were to happen i would make the 4 hour drive

well I personally would love it if it were to be held in bowie and it would be more likely to fit my hectic schedule but if it were in NJ I would try to make it , I was born and raised up until aroun 14 Yrs old in New Jersey but that is neither here nor there You know in all the time I have Played at OA I have never seen Arsenal there....

A California meet around June would be great, that would give me time to get back to the states. I'd like to see that happen. I'm going to throw out SC Village for the site of that one, just because it has the size to accomadate a large crowd of Angel-toting ballers. There are plenty other to chose from too.
