ken said that the bolt pin has to click into the back part of the hammer, so what i did was put the hammer far forward and then i slowly brought it back out until the breech block shut under its own weight. the breech block clicks when you open it so everything should be cool, i just dont have a chrono, so i wont know if i still have velocities that are all over the place.

nope...
as Ken stated you should always adjust the Ram in a clockwise motion, that means as you're screwing it in, you did it backwards.
You need to keep trying to open and close the breech while you're adjust the ram until you get it right.

the manual states that you stop when you feel "slight resistance" in closing the breech. I've found that this is quite subjective. Personally I compromised by leaning towards a little "more resistance" in opening/closing the breech when adjusting because after I air up, it always becomes easier as the bolt/hammer moves back a slightly thus making it only "slight resistance" when opening/closing the breech.
dunno if that makes any sense to you guys... reminds me of how early cockers were timed...

you're also supposed to make these adjustments with air on the marker for a more realistic fit, while the Ram will become a little harder to turn it will make your adjustment more true.

Thanks Emmit, just curious because Ken Crane recommended that the marker be degassed... but what you said makes more sense and is how I re-adjusted my ram.

ironically I just pulled my 4 manual out (which happens to be next to my desk) and it says to do it with the marker degassed (page 39), however I also pulled out my IR3 manual (guess where it's at:wink: ) and it recommends doing this with the marker gassed up (page 31).
I've got a feeling what it was is that WDP used to recommend doing it gassed up, and over time they've changed their mind on this and are now recommending that it not be gassed up. I'd recommend opening your manual for your current marker (where do you have it?) and seeing what WDP is stating (page 28 for the Speed).

the manual and Ken Crane suggested it degassed...
my manual is in my Speed box...
I figured it was for safety sakes but I don't see how it could be dangerous unless there were something extremely wrong with your marker and your ram comes flying out the marker or something... I dunno.
I tried it both ways and I prefer to set it with the marker gassed, it's more accurate. However, the issue of "slight resistance" is still very subjective IMHO.

ok...so then i should do what? like bring the ram all the way out and then slowly turn it clockwise (wchich is inward right?) until the breech clicks open and shut?

Right. Like Emmitt said though, just keep opening and shutingthe breech until it firmly clicks.

thanks guys i got it done right this time!!!! now if the ram adjustment doesnt fix the velocity inconsistency, which i think it most def will, what else could it be, the gun only has a case and a half through it.???

in hindsight I think that the reason the LED/LCD and IR3 Rams had to be adjusted with air was because you had to adjust the snap ring with it, and in order to do so you HAD to have air on the marker.

Emmit, where's the snap ring on Speeds and A4s?

there is no snap ring on the Speed/4 that was part of the redesign of the Ram.
