Just want to throw in a few words...
Don't rip on someone too fast, it could be the shipping method used causing problems for the two of you.
I'd recommend using at least FedEx Ground or UPS rather than the USPS, if just for the tracking system because that could alleviate alot of headaches being able to track your shipment. Of course, the sender would have to provide you with the tracking info once the item has been shipped...
Also, i've seen a few people mention 'insurance' in a few posts. Just so you know, making a claim is not a simple "My package was destroyed, i insured it for $2k, so gimme my 2 grand!".
The courier you use will most likely (in UPS's case - they will) contact you to find out the actual value of the item you declared and insured. They might research it and conclude it's value to be something much less than you had originally chose to insure it for. For example; I wouldn't be surprised to find someone with a body that has been cosmetically damaged in transit only to find that the courier has chosen not to honor the initially declared value, but rather an estimate they have come up with to only replace the damaged portion of the merchandise.
I have seen shippers pull alot of tricks when I used to do this sort of thing for a living. I've even had UPS deny claims for valuable merchandise that was destroyed in transit - blaming their 'conveyor belts', or 'the striking Conrail employees' in order to get out of paying out. It all comes down to one thing you need to do - package everything properly! No dead air, shouldn't 'shake' around, shouldn't be crushed easily, etc.
I just wanted to take the time to write this because a lot of us put a good chunk of money and effort into our equipment and each day you haven't received your order, or if your faced with something being damaged in transit it's really going to suck and hopefully this helps a lil' bit.
(I know how it feels; i'm so impatient that I bought everything i've got in cash at a local shop and didn't mind paying a few hundred bucks extra because I wanted my stuff right-here-right-now!)
