sounds good. Id like to keep away from anything that has already been done (milling) and do something that is mind blowing.
Looking forward to your drawing.

oooooooohhhhhhhhhh.....that would look sweeeeeeeeeeeeet.....would certainly want to buy that instead of a Dark....I haven't been thrilled with the looks of the Dark IR3's....let's get something sweet

And by the way. If we use any of the milling ideas from Angel-Owners members we will give that member a Special deal on one of the 1st guns.

in the next few weeks. CobraLed i really like your idea.
There are also going to be some different features on our gun that none of the other IR3's have.
Watch out, this gun is going to be a killer!!!!

Wow Mo's own custom gun! This is gonna rock.

I like the wing idea, I always wanted something like that on the back of my first stock LCD. The wing design on Rocky's gun looked more like a flag to me though.

One thing I thought about doing before is cutting an oval slot on the right side of the gun under the bolt. Hard to explain but it would start on the body by the ball detent and go under the bolt(since the bolt sits at an angel you don't need that material), and go to the other side of the body. This however might be better if you were going for some sort of "feather" type design, as of course it wouldn't be symmetrical.

Since WDP is going with the whole screen thing around the solenoid, think it would be pretty trippy to just machine the entire back of the gun off and offer a box that goes around the whole thing, with the site rail integrated to it. You would free up a LOT of material and just have a twice folded cover that fits in an aluminum slot around behind the bolt and back plate. That way you won't crush the solenoid should you fall on the gun or something. Hard to explain what i'm talking about in words.

If you get some intricate pattern though, tell WDP to run those spindle speeds up! Those tool marks on some of their guns really ruin it for me, and it seems like it's always the "custom shop" guns that have them. I'd be pretty adamant about no tool marks if I were you.

I think you'll find most people prefer simple, flowing patterns. I think the original 2000 Dark Angel milling is still loved by a lot of people. Simple and elegant. Also the Mamba has characteristics like that, while the regular cobra milling doesn't. I would say the Mamba is much more liked, i know it is by me.

if this gun goes through its gonna be da bomb! what "features" are you talking about that other ir3s won't have? we get to know all the insider news cause we thought of it right? or CobraLED thought of it... always give credit where it is due :) cause this is gonna be sweet!

Cobra, nice idea. what if the "wing" was used for a backdrop of sorts and "Angel" was the overlay in a round-slanted type text matching the slope of the wings. just a heavenly sight i think, but this might be too much milling and make it look like crumpled up paper. but the wing is smooth.

I have heard alot of guys say "They have lady triggers, lady drops, why don't they have lady milling?" Thats just what I hear. You can think about it.

Good idea Batman :puzzled: but I thing all the guys that are not getting any from their wives or g/f's will just turn to stroke the gun more often than is needed.

Most Angel owners stroke their guns more often than needed anyway. So it wont matter, it will justify them stroking them!

That looks like a really good idea. I can't wait to see how it come's out! Keep us posted, because I am thinking about going iR3, so maybe I will grab this one while I can.

yeah! and then someone can make some boobie volumizers and a back plate that 'got back'...

any you fellas know where i can get my hands on an audocad model of an LCD body? i'm stuck on something right now trying to make the model from scratch in 3DS MAX.

I've got an idea for some funky milling but I don't wana spill the beans until after I do it and see how it looks on my gun... but i'm havin a hard time finishing the model

I love gruber's idea, so i started a small project. This is only one nights work, still have alot to do but i think in the end it will help you all decide colors and other milling ideas, im calling it the "Angel Class" angel, call it what you will, i kind of suck with names :cryer: Like i said before this is only the begining step towards somthing final. I will have the gated feed done and hopefully have some sort of a fade on it tommarow. Lmk what you think :)

it would be realy nice if it had that rare milling never done before and then a rare not really seen color or rare fade

MrDrake, Do they even make a machine that can Mill like that? I don't mean to be pessimistic, the whole wings idea is good, but seems a little far fetched to me. Then again, my knowledge of those types of machines is limited. I'd be curious to see a full 3d model of it though. It seems like there isn't a whole lot of room for milling on the IR3's. Would you just put a mesh screen under where you milled my the 14way like the warped ir3's?? Just curious becuase near the breech, it doesn't look like there's enough to be shaved off before you reach the battery, or not enough to make a good, solid, visible wing engraving because that wing is pretty complex. Just my 2 cents. Please feel free to correct me, because I'm not too familiar with the ir3 bodies. -skel

I belive the machine is called a 3 axis milling machine, dont quote me though. I think that the wing idea will work nicley, I think the only limitations is how detailed you can get. As far as room goes, if the milling is done right i think the efffect can be pulled off. However I have limited use with an ir3 so i cant truely speak from expierance. Would be awsome to see wdp pull somthing like this off though. BTW i havent really finished that gated feed, but i am trying some extensive milling on it as well. Im really bored, what can i say.
