I was wondering if there was any good head protection? I don't mean a mask.. but something to help with those unpleasant hits on top of the head. I know most people use a hat or a beanie. I want something tight fitting, without a tail, and with some padding. The only thing i can find that is close is in P8NTMAGAZINE, issue 19, page 124. But heck if i know who makes it. Help me out guys.... before i have to take a dye jersey and cut it up to make a nice cap.

There is someone making one called a turtle cap or monkey cap something like that. He's a paintballer that had a head injury when he got bunkered. If you send an email to APG they might have the contact info. There's always the JT full-helmet/Darth Vader system :)

I have the Hundredth Monkey padded hat above. It definately will protect your head. Its firm enough that you will still get some breaks but more likely to get a bounce than a baseball hat. 2 down points are that it is much hotter than a baseball cap and tends to run large (looks goofy if you have a med. size head). The best padding/skull cap I have found and currently use is the Blackstar Impact cap:

Padded enough to protect but light enough to stay cool when its hot.

ok just got the turtlecap... quick review... well, it's very well made.. the top is thick enough to prevent goose eggs and most likely create bounces. The bill is very nice, not all stiff and uneven. I only have a couple of problems.. one: the band fits great but the top is too big. If i push it the whole way on it comes down over my ears. I'm sure if you have a bigger brain this would be perfect for you. Two: after putting my mask on I noticed the cap pushes your mask out away from your face. Now the air you exhaul is able to go straight to your lens... this can't be good. So unless I can do something to make it fit better.... it was a good waste of 35 bucks... if you have a bigger head, this might be great for you.

beanies are good for when it's not that warm yet. And I haven't tried it but maybe thin beanies like the wdp one for once it does get hot outside.

If you turn the cap around and wear the bill facing to the back of your head, it fits much better.

they are nicely made caps but they don't make smaller sizes. this thing is too big. it's just another 35 bucks i've spent on something that is just going to sit in my room.

if you guys would follow the golden rule of just about every sport, keep your head up :)

ok maybe not every sport. But you get the point, dont turn your head down in fear of getting shot ;) you wouldnt have those eggs on the top of your skull.
