View Full Version : She's Givin' Me Bad Vibrations

Two vibration-related issues that I'm experiencing:
The barrel (the stock barrel, which, yes, will be replaced soon, but that's not the point...) likes to vibrate loose, especially when playing fast and hard or when dry firing. I'm thinking of putting some Teflon tape on the threads, just to give it a bit more on which to grab, but since Teflon is slippery, that seems kind of counter-productive. Thoughts? I'm using an Evil Universal Mount, which is a Check-It Unimount cleverly concealed by an Evil logo (*rolls eyes*). At any rate, the darn thing likes to rattle; the dovetail on the ASA and the adaptor do not a perfect pair make. I've tried adjusting the set screw to the point where I was starting to bend my Torx bit, so that's not the answer. Should I accept this as a fact of life, or should I just Superglue the assembly together? Is there a middle ground here? Your suggestions are much appeciated
I should emphasize--the gun shoots like a dream, even with the barrel loose. I just don't want it doing something foolish like falling off, and I can't imagine that a loose barrel can get away with not affecting accuracy.

My setup has changed a little since last time I posted pics. In particular, the Slayer has sent my game through the roof. Consistently firing 19 bps and hitting 24 is a good way to prove a trigger's value. Yum! If y'all can help me get this worked out, I'll post some fresh views of my baby. (*bribe* *bribe* hehe)

Thanks!,

I'm not helping you out because I already have a Force and don't need to see new pics of one!

Actually my stock barrel did the same thing, but for some reason I don't have a problem with the freak. You can try teflon tape to see if that helps. :notsure:

Not sure what to say about your mount, but if you are happy with it then just super glue it together. If not then try finding one that will fit o make life easier.

Doesn't that slayer trigger just rock!

an o-ring on the barrel should help you with that....

as for the unimount...well it just sounds like a problem with the unimount, and not the marker:wink:

Er, how would one go about accomplishing that, exactly? I don't think I've ever seen an o-ring on a barrel.... :dunno:

Just find an o-ring a little smaller than the size of the barrel and roll it over the threads until it reaches the end of the barrel which goes into the gun and you should be set.

I use an Evil Pipe kit and all of the backs have an o-ring on them to connect the front to the backs. The principle is the same. Just put a tank 0-ring (snug fit) on the back of your barrel and that will lock it tight when you screw it in.

Tank o-rings are a great fit. Just put a little grease on it to help get it on, and then slide it on up and roll it over the threads like Thog was saying, then you can tighten the barrel down a little more and it will still come off easily as well.

yea just put it right above the threads, most barrels even have a groove there, an o-ring would fit perfectly in there
