Have any of you guys tried the new poison arrow barrel? It's a new system that can clear ball breaks without having to swab the barrel. It has a sleave in the middle of the barrel that covers large ports. Just pull the sleave back exposing the ports and fire a few clearing shots and your back in the game. Paintballstar has a review on it right now and there homepage is www.smootherthanglass.com. It's a little expensive but if you're like me and spent a grand on an angel, another couple hundred to keep it shooting right isn't that bad. So if anyone has one, let me know if you like it. Or just tell me what you guys think. Thanks!

While the days of $200 loaders is upon us, the day of $320 barrel sets is far away in my check book.
Buy a big bore CP for $55, end of story.

ya i was thinking the same thing... thanks for the info... i hate my sensi... can't get the stupid thing to work right. :321: And yes guys... i've tried everything. Although i have no clue how to clean out the hole the rode goes in. I can't find anything small enough to fit in that hole and clean it. Worlds smallest toothbrush? I hate to get off the subject, but when a ball is loaded into the chamber, it doesn't even hit the rode. what's up with that?

if that is the case, ur sensi might be broken, take the gun apart (or have a tech do if if u dont know what ur doing) and see if the sensi snapped (therefore nothing is holding the rod up enough to make contact with the paintball)

thanks for the info but it's a new sensor... already replaced a broken one.... still doesn't work right. i've tried everything... except one thing.. i can't get the hole cleaned out. what is everyone using to get paint out of that hole?

what i mean about the paintball not hitting the rod is, it's too far forward. the paintball sits about 1/8 inch back from where the rod sticks up... is this normal?

that doesnt sound right =P how is that possible?? arent the construction of the body made so it aligns perfectly?

maybe it's just me but it sure doesn't look like it. maybe my loader is pushing the ball backwards because of the pressure of the ball stack. maybe i should start another thread.... sorry for the off topic conversation!

I played with a guy last weekend that had one and it worked pretty well. Usually about two or three shots and he was back in teh game. I was impressed by it. It works.

Compressed air from Radio shack, paper toweling at the top end, and "vewwy vewwy smawl" pipe cleaners.

The two big things about this barrel system are the self centering bores and the honing process. The self cleaning thing, I believe, was probably an afterthought, but it's not a bad idea.
I talked with the guy that makes them. He has them milled from some high grade alumium billet by a company that makes rifle barrels. It really is the smoothest looking bore finish I've ever seen. ( His main business is a gun shop, plus he owns a field. http://www.discoverpaintball.com )
The other thing is the self centering bores. It works by having a chamfer at the end of the bore that centers itself to the breech as it's tightened down. A pretty unique idea really....
I've never actually seen one in use to tell you how well it really works though, but it's gotten a few favorable reviews.

Remember me? Hi, I was just doing a follow up for ya. First off, I want
you to know that your man Jason out there is Awesome! He was great to work
with, and sincerly did his best to help me out. I really appreciate that.
The product wont be the only thing that I praise when I talk to people. You
have outstanding customer service. I will not hesitate to call back if I
ever need anything or have a problem. Now enough with the mushy stuff. I
really dig this Pro kit! It shoots darts. I have only so far used cheap
practice paints and was still very impressed. I have used all three tip
lenghts as well. So far I am sold on the 8"er. It held patterns just as
tight as the 14" and in my opinion cleaned itself out more effectively
(probably because it doesnt have as much air to ride after the insert).
Anyway, thus far I like the barrel. I have been suprised and impressed by
the proformance that it has provided. I will continue to play with it and
show it off.

if i were a company that was making a barrel system i wouldnt boast about how easy it is to clean a break, if you barrel system is the best then you shouldnt be breaking paint. thats pretty dumb to me. just my thoughts

Remember that not all breaks are the barrels fault. What if the barrel wasn't screwed in good enough and it busted or you just chopped for some reason, or you didn't properly match to the paint size?? There are a few different reasons for breaking paint in the barrel. Shooting through breaks easily is an excellent feature in a barrel. If you know that you can shoot clean again after 2-3 shots it's better than 5+ and in a game, I'd rather take the time to shoot it out instead of pulling out a swab as you never know what kind of situation you'll be in.
About 2 weeks ago had an "opportunity" to try one of these barrel "systems". I normally shoot a Powerlyte Sceptor 5, I traded for the day to someone using the Poison Arrow. Don't be fooled by the big boys barrel systems, give the little guys a chance (you might be impressed :snag: ) Over the years I have tried MANY barrels in search of the best combo. The Poison Arrow really is one of the straightest shooting barrel systems I've used, it looks like hell, but an awesome performer. Very tight targeting at close and far ranges. The accuracy is probably attributed to the claimed production standards they use. This person has something to do with real guns and has forwarded the expertise into a paintball barrel. The smooth finish not only cleans well (yes I used some crap paint to try) like most high quality barrels, but offers a very low friction factor for excellent velocity. It uses self aligning inserts to match your paint. These inserts are tough, mirror like stainless steel. My Sceptor also uses a similar type of insert, but much more fragile. It also is very quite for a barrel not fully ported.
I would rate iT VERY high. The only cons are it is similar in weight to Freak (stainless steel inserts), not very good looking and limited colors. I think they can do away with the slider that is supposed to be used when cleaning the barrel, it cleans at 3 or 4 without it (I didn't know what it was for and didn't use it).
AND NO I'M NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE MANUFACTURER!

every barrel have the same accuracy... you just have to get the paint/barrel match perfect... but the clean it self feature is a nice thing to have!

well the hammerhead barrel also claims it will clean the barrel out the next shot, dont believe me read on their site...

so does the evil...
not all barrels are created equal, or else spyders would shoot as accuarate as dm4s.

some actually do, it's all about the system, not the barrel. improving one thing will help a little bit, but if it is part of a system that works perfect in sync with each other the result will be much greater.

ok how about the average newb spyder will shoot better. most spyders arent owned by bad company.

the spyder have so much kick that it affects the accuracy... try shake an angel while shooting...

Sorry to revive an old thread, but despite the FUGLY look of the Poison Arrow barrel kit it really is the best barrel that I have ever used. I'll use factory seconds and practice paint all the time (being that I usually get it for free, or next to nothing) and so barrel breaks just go with the territory.
Anyways, it shoots through barrel breaks better than any barrel I've ever used. It is expensive, ugly, loud, and is heavier than most barrels. Sheesh I hope I didn't scare too many people away from buying it...but it shoots darts.
