just like any paintball marker it won't hurt the marker...but you won't be allowed to play any fields at that velocity, the max limit is only 300fps even in national tournaments.

no it didnt im quite alive. like i said we didnt even realize it. we were all set like 280 but somewhere within heat strokes (yea we were stuck with co2 cuz the guy up there doesnt do any nitro) and fooling around are guns must have cranked up. i was the most pissed off because from 2 guys acting like asses i left with 2 scars not even from gameplay but out of game and in the end everyone started staring at me cuz i was complaining about how high everyone was set then i chrono'ed and i was the highest of anyone. we werent using and expensive guns or anything though which im glad. i would never even bring a good gun to a get together like that and i wont be even doing something like that ever again.

300 fps was chosen (feel free to correct me here, guys) because that's the maximum speed before you start breaking bones in your hand if hit there.

In the back of your Angel owner's manual, there's some really neat calculations of exactly how much force is being applied at 300 fps. Find that number, then look up some shatter points for your favorite materials, and you'll see just how important it is to chrony in.

Woodsball on an unregulated field is, in my opinion, both the least fun and most dangerous way to play paintball there is. But if you insist on doing it, at least do it safely; chronys are well under $100 if you don't need a tournament-quality one.

your right about the crono thing jouster, you can get those little handheld crono's they use at the tournies for bout 80 bucks ( http://www.paintballkingdom.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=757 )

but the reason i tought that they made it 300 fps was because a whole lot more than that the early lenses would start cracking, also its almost exactly 200 mph if you do the calculations, its just a nice round number

I found this, which seems to argue both:
from http://www.geocities.com/pomanspaintball/safety.html...

Keep the Ball speed down below 300 fps (feet per second) You may think you will do better with you paintballs flying out faster, but this usually hurts your accuracy. The reason paint fields keep the speed down is because goggles are rated to only stop 300 fps paintballs. Where did 300 fps come from? Physicists found that a blunt object going over 300 fps can actually break bones (finger especially), so please keep the speed down.

yea i've heard that a couple of times as well, but i think it's a little hard to believe since in my thoughts the ball would break before your bones do,

well that is unless your finger is straightened out and it hits the tip, then i can definately see it getting atleast a fracture... but hey all sports have their risks, and this is pretty minor compared to most others

but yea lenses are rated to withstand 300fps safely as said above, although they will obviously absorb much faster hits, probably up to around 500 fps or so(that's a pure guess so dont go try that) , they will absorb multiple 300fps hits safely so do as recommended and keep at that

i was shooting a tipp a-5. anyway the paint deff broke before bones and it was in my forearm's upper side (for most people the tanner side) so it just left a welt and scar (he was shooting at 350 i think) i got really pissed off i would have knocked the guy over and started shooting him but he was 10x bigger than me so i figured it was smarter just taking the hit and walkign away with minimum damage. plus i got back at him when he was riding a quad (hit him right in the arm).
