I'm the proud owner of a new black-pewter fade speed and its seems I'm already having a problem.. the thing wont charge. See, I plug the charger into the gun and it would charge the gun for a little while (it lights up from green-yellow-orange-red) but after about 10 minutes it would stop scrolling the led's and blink a single red l.e.d.(indicating a full charge). So I took it off the charger and the gauge indicated 50% charge... so I went ahead and let it charge again on my trip to orlando (1 1/2 hours) all the while blinking the single red l.e.d. (hoping that maybe it was charging). When I got out of class (some 4 hours later) i return to my car and try to charge it again on my trip home. This time something strange happens.. when I plug it into my car, it keeps scrolling green to red to green, lights up all four of the option led's (like a boot-up sequence) and turns off, and does it again and again, etc etc. So on a whim I check the battery level and BAM. the gun is completely drained now! it will only boot-up by itself but when its done scrolling led's it just dies.

Now, I get home and try the charger on my other car just to make sure its not my outlet but no luck; it does the scrolling/boot-up loop thing over and over. I went ahead and took the charger out and to my surprise the red led on the charger lights up by itself now when plugged into the gun! Without the car! So has my gun been charging my car this whole time? Keep in mind this thing is brand-new... i havent even touched the internals yet! what should I do? who should I talk to? Any advice as to what it could be? Something I can fix myself? Much thanks in advance to those that have read this far! ;)

When charging the switch on the speed must be in the "On" Position. This should fix the problem. If it is the "Off" position it could be charging your car. If it is in the "On" Position the lights will stay scrolling for the duration of the charge until it is done (about 4 hours) then you will get the red flashing.

Oh, and I recommend RTFM. :fairy:

actually akruse21, you're wrong
If you paid attention when you plug your speed into the charger and into your switch is in the off position the lights will cascade once or a couple times before going to red. So DING DING you've won NOTHING.

sorry sushi111 you didnt specify that the switch was in the on position. I figured that would help you... sorry most people dont read the manual. I would PM Ken Crane he's the man.

You are absolutely right. I was the arrogant one.

I posted legitimate help then put the RTFM at the bottom as sarcasm. Sorry you couldnt handle it.

make sure the battery wire connected to the board isn't pinched or damaged.

Sushi your gun isnt charging your car its just some kind of backfeed into your charger lighting up the led on your charger. Strange yes. But still get a hold of a sponsor on here or the place of purchase (which if its a fade Speed then thats obvious) and see what they say.

are you able to borrow someone elses charger to test? since youve already tried another car to charge it, maybe another charger should be tried before deciding its the marker.

so it's not taking a charge?

what exactly is happening...saying "I have the same problem" doesn't really help, BMS.

It is just like he described I got the gun and whem I turned it on the battery was at the first notch on the green so out to the car I went to charge it up. I plugged in the charger and turned the Anel Speed on and then inserted the charger into the Speed. The board cascaded going from green to red over and over again. Well I drove out to the local paintball shop which is about a 30 min drive to get some paint, well by the time I got there I looked over and saw that a single red LED was blinking so I was very confused b/c that would have meant that it was fully charged. So I took the charger of fthe Angel turned the Speed off and then switched it back on to see where ithe battery was reading at. Well it was only about half way if that. So I figured maybe since y car and battery are a little old maybe it just isn't getting the charge it needs so I waited unti l Igot home to plug it into my girlfriend's brand new car well this time it cascaded in a different way. The lights went from green to red and then back down again and then flashed all the lights at once for a few seconds and the repeated that sequence. Well I left the gun like that figuring it was charging now. Well a little over 4 hours went by and I went back out to the Speed to see if it was fully charged well it was still going through the same sequence. Well I fifgured it had been long enough so I tok the Speed off the charger to see where it is at now. Well now I turn the gun on and it cascades and the battery light flashes for a second and then the Speed just shuts off. And just like he was saying that when I plug the charger just into the Speed itself the charger red light glows. So I am getting very frustrated with the Speed and have already emailed the WDP technician on the WDP.tv website and have also emailed the company in which I bout the marker hoping for and exchange.

also... sorry about the double post but.......... i checked the output voltage on the charger and it was 12 volts, so if the input and the out put have the same voltage what is it that the charger does? is it just to limit the mA to 600?
