I just played today for the first time in almost two years. So i bust out my 2000 Dark LCD and my old school 12 Rev(the good old plastic). Anyways, it wasnt shooting like it used to. I chopped 4 balls in about a case which I really dont think is acceptable for a gun expensive as a Dark LCD is. I talked to the field/store owner and he thinks it could be my rev not feeding fast enough since I was chopping the balls in half, not just breaking them. My bolt was getting caught up far in the breech because of paintshells. So in 4 games, my gun couldnt shoot. Not acceptabe. What do you all think? The owner is gonna let me use a HALO B for a few games if i go up next sunday. Think that will fix the problem or think its something wrong with my gun?

well, im assuming that you dont have the anti chop eye on your gun, so yes, i am willing to bet that the hopper is your problem. Might i suggest that u go the EvoII route instead of the Halo B, just from personla experience. When you are chopping balls, are you chopping when you are shooting fast, or slow. If you are chopping when you are shooting fast, 11+bps, then it is most defenetly the hopper, but if you're chopping somewhere below that, then you migh have some other problem, but i would say that it is your hopper.

I turned my gun off before i was able to check my ROF for the day but back when i last played, i was always at 11, i hit 12 a few times. I was chopping when i was shooting fast. Whats the anti chop eye?

It is an eye in the chamber that prevents the gun from shooting if there is no ball in the chamber.

I think it is your hopper. Like you, I'm hitting paintball hard after a few years off, and my old faithful 12V rev has not performed like it used to. I have chopped once and skipped a few shots in two cases, which never used to happen. The rev is just not kicking in like it used to. I don't know what sitting would have done to the hopper, but it never used to skip a beat, and now it does. And I wasn't even shooting that fast at the time. The skips have were at the chrono, while tuning the marker after the first chop at the field.

i hear exactly what you are saying rkj. Whats the deal? Where can i get an anti chop eye, i think that will be helpful.

antk9, if you really want to spend the money to get the Eye, here is the website:

They are very expensive, and can break very easy. I would go through the list that Jason gave you, and see if you can fix your chopping problem.

Yeah, i just replaced my 12volt and got a 12 volt with x board, and now my rev blades rotate the second the sensor detects that there is no ball in the chamber. The x board is really essential if you run a 12 volt.

Could someone with some experience with all the hoppers tell me how the Halo B, eVlution II, and 12v VL with xboard compare to each other. I already know about prices, tell me about performance please.

What I don't understand is why my Rev used to do the trick and now it doesn't. It's not like my angel got faster while sitting in my cabinet for 2 years. Nor should the Rev get any slower. I rarely chopped paint back when i played. This leads me to think its a problem with my gun. But then, I noticed when i was shooting with my gun at an angle, the rev wouldn't load up fast enough and i was shooting dry. So that leads me to think it's my Rev. Is it possible that my Rev just isn't as fast as it used to be?

antk9......the old 12v revs were always a problem. That's why they made the X-board. However since it's been sitting I'd say yeah it might not be performing like it used to. Perhaps some of the mechanical stuff inside is a little rusted and binding from not being used? This would cause it to slow down. However I think it's already been mentioned to check your LPR, and Ram stroke these are certainly things that could be different after sitting for 2 years.

I've never messed with the pneumatics of an angel. What do i need to do to check my LPR and ram stroke? Should i bother doing it myself or just have it checked by a tech? I don't have any tool kits.

if you don't have the tools or the experience then my suggestion is 100% take it to a tech. This is something they do frequently, and they can make sure it's done properly. You will be very very satisfied if you take it in and have your gun tuned properly.

does $40 sound ok for a tune up? He said at the most it will be $40, but probably less. About right?

$40.00 sounds good. I definitly recommend you to send it to a tech.
turn your mrof down and invest in a egg 2 or a halo b.

what would turning my mrof down do? does it make a difference on semi? mine is set at 18 for MROF.
WarpedKid02

MROF is the Maximum Rate Of Fire that can be achieved. By turning it down, it will not let shoot any faster then what it is set for. What is your ROF? If it is 11-13, you should change your MROF to 13.

Take it To a Tech T T T
don't take the risk, unless your a gambler. jkn
If you have no experience with pneumatics of an angel, i would suggest a tech, someone who knows alot about angels, or pull out the exciting manual and start reading.

Update
I played again today and the store owner of the field i play at let me use a HALO B for the day. Man, that thing ripped up. Didn't chop a single ball all day as compared to the 4-5 i chopped last time. Stupid Rev. I fully recommend a HALO B, i dont care how big it is.
