New information trickling down...

seems that starting with the next season player classes are changing.

There will be Pro, Div 1, Div 2, and Div 3.

Also rumor has it that starting with '05 you can't go Pro unless you're in the top X number in your division. No more buying your Pro classification:wink: Apparently if you fall below a certain rank in your division they will knock you down a level as well:doh: This is of course for Div 1 to Pro jumps.

I dunno if I like that.
Could be very disappointing, if my fave team ended up dropping back.

but Bena that just means they've got to step up their play or they get dropped back to Div 1......it's like telling the last place team that they aren't good enough to play Pro ball and they need to be playing in the kiddie pool....

I think it's great!

Goood point.
But if that team gets knocked back to div1, then they might just ruin everyone, its a possibility?

Oh horsepoo!!! We all know they shouldnt have played in any division. They should have been playing stuff like MSPA, NEPL, or CFOA or stuff like that. MAYBE...Panam.

i dont see why they're doing this; As of now they dont have enought pro teams, and if they weed out all the teams who "Buy" pro status, then eventually they will be kicking back good teams who will esentially be sand-bagging and will probably take the d1 title

think what would happen about this tho
1. Dynasty
2. Naughty Dogs
3. BE All Stars
4. Bad Company

NPPL: BC, you placed last out of 4 teams, go to div one....
the pro div is full of good teams, and just because a team placed low in an event shouldnt mean they are droped from pro.

I believe the Pro division in Miami had 19 teams. That's a pretty good turn out. If you're trying to say there's not enough Pro teams based on PSP turnout then you're wasting your time because Pro's were forced to play X-ball or the Open Division of 10man. So it's really hard to tell, because Div 1 X-Ball, just like any other X-ball Div can be bought.

I think this will create more competition and not sandbagging as you put it. Now you'll have more teams fighting to be the #1 so that they can move up to Pro. I think it's a good move.

I concur

think about a team's reputation...once they've gone Pro to be forced to drop back down is like telling a Major League pitcher that was in the World Series that he's gonna have to go back a pitch for a 2A Farm team:shocked:

so if dynasty just stunk the high heavens next year and didnt take first in their div..they could get dropped down?

so basically past achievements mean nothing ...sort of?? and if your washed up then you have to go back down...until you step up again....i think its a good idea

i doubt that will happen, dispite the fact that they'll be using crappy guns that shoot down alot; they're still all really good players

This system is similar to what the Europeans do in their National Soccer Leagues. A team beats down and beats down the competition then they move up. Conversely, teams that consistently lose (note I said COSISTENTLY lose) move back down a league. All of this is determined at the end of the season after all the championships. So possibly there could be a Bad Company or a Dynasty (OMG HEAVEN FORBID *sarcasm*) in Div 1. Personally I think this will boost the morale and determination of the teams playing. The Leagues in European Soccer use the Premire League (England) or the Bundesliga (Germany) as their money makers. TV deals, endorsements, etc. How often would you see a player from a team that went down a league endorsing a high quality product? Sorry about the rant just stating my opinion.

There's an article on FON discussing new player classification levels...so no more Ams Novice, and Rookies.......you're either Pro or you get a number:wink:

did u read whoop its not the second place team. its the last place team. i dont really like the sounds of this new rule, I mean ever single other sport around besides like beetle wrestling in Taewon the pro teams stay pro and the players swap from levels and team. y dont they try that

The new system will have pros and cons.

Pros:
-Will have to earn the title of pro, rather than just have enough money.
-Teams will have to prove themselves each year rather than just choose to play pro and float around in the background
-Sponsors will prolly end up renewing sponsor contracts each year according to standings.
Cons:
-Sponsors will have to choose carefully and make sure they pick a good team
-Might encourage cheating towards the end of the year to make sure the team doesnt drop down a level (then again cheating already exists to win tournaments etc)
-Will see the end of a few long standing teams. If paintball is to become mainstream, then teams will have to stand and players will have to come and go.

I like the Idea of this proformance system. Since its such a big deal to people to drop from Pro to D1, why don't they make it a bit more stable. Instead of having a team get dropped from pro if they come in last one year, they should say that a team will go down if they fall in the bottom percentile (whatever, just somewhere in the bottom of the group) two or three years in a row. That way, it will make sure that the consistant underpreformers get booted out of Pro while a team just having a crappy year won't break the team's spirits.
