Ok, with the IR3 out for a while now with all those improvements like COPS 2, mem6 boards, opta trigger, etc are there still LCD fans like myself out there? I know lots of people that are upgrading but personally don't feel that there's a real need until WDP comes out with an IR3 killer. I love my LCD and have never had problems with it...couldn't be more satisfied! Any opinion?

for where im at...the LCD works just fine for now....im not done customizing it yet.....probably in a couple of years i might look at gettting an IR3..but by then they will probably have an IR4......

I've said it before and I'll say it again....the improvements over the LED weren't really there as far as I could tell. They didn't put anything into the LCD that really wanted me to purchase one. However the IR3 has gone beyond that. The IR3 is soooo much better than the LED or LCD ever was in my opinion. It's more comfortable to hold, you can get tighter in a bunker, it feels a world different when you're shooting it. Now I haven't shelved my LCD quite yet, but I think it's probably heading that way only because the IR3 is so much better in my opinion.

Well, I'll be shooting an LCD for a while. I'm just now in the process of making the deal to get one. I personally don't like the look of the IR3. They look really weird how the grip is perpindicular to the body of the gun. Doesn't look comfortable at all. I'll stick to an lcd, I think they're sexy.

Wadd....I'm not saying the LCD's don't look good. I have a Dark LCD so of course I think it looks better than most. I also bought a Dark IR3, why? Looks baby. As for comfort? Give the IR3 a try. I'm not talking like in a store with no tank, I'm talking putting a tank on there, and actually shooting paint etc. It's different I'll admit, but it does sit a lot nicer....but hey to each their own.

I agree with Emmit. A friend of mine has an IR3 and I have played a few games with it. The tank of choice was a little heavy, but you could still notice a little weight savings.

As far as the space frame is concerned; it may look like it wouldnt be comfortable, but it is very comfortable if you play extra tight. Those of you fronts know what I am talking about.

I myself do not think the IR3 is worth the price tag. The IR is cool but really unecessary. COPS is a great invention, but I dont break paint. The only thing I love from the IR3 is the space frame and I am in the process of having one made for my LCD so that really isnt an issue for me. The IR3 is suppose to be more air efficient, but I shoot a lot anyway. It does not matter to me if I fill my tank eight times in a day instead of six. It doesnt matter enough anyway to justify the price.

When the IR4 pops off I will probably by an IR3 after the price drops but my LCD has never given me a problem so I am not left feeling wanting.

Syentific as far as air efficiency goes all I can say is that I bought a brand new 68/45 AIR at Cup (I was a little concerned at first)...I played 8 games, and shot close to 9 pods each game....least I ever came off the field with was like 7xx....that impressed me.

I love my LCD, and would not like to get rid of it. The iR3 has all the features what are needed. The LCD didn't do much from the LED, except for the LCD screen, and all of the firing modes. The LCD is a nice gun, but some of the feature's on the iR3 knock it out of the way. If it ever comes around to buying an iR3, I will, and probably keep my LCD as a backup gun.

I love my lcd and think it works great. I will say i like the ir3s but they like the lcds are a little on the high side in price

Yes, that is true. They will eventually go down as the LCD's did.

All I have to say is that I'm still a diehard LCD fan/player. When the next generation of Angels come out...I might consider getting one cuz that'll probably be 2-4 years down the road. Gotta keep up with the pace of technology. My LCD shoots almost flawlessly, why drop more cash on upgrading to the IR3 when I can use the money I save to shoot case after case of paint?!?! hehe

Those figures are pretty impressive Emmit. All I am saying is no matter how efficient the IR3 is, I am too broke to jump ship just to save a few bucks at the fill station. Especially when my LCD has not given me anything but flawless operation.

I will get an IR3 and I will probably love it, just not today's price tag.

Syentific I understand...I was just trying to offer up some information that I've gotten through my own use, as well as a differing opinion. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the LCD's, and you're right at this point the price on the IR3's is still quite steep. I made a personal choice and I am very happy with it right now. Believe it or not this is the happiest I've ever been with a marker purchase (don't get me wrong I've been thrilled in the past when I purchased Angels, but something about this one was different). I fully understand where you're coming from in the money department, and you're right at this point the couple of dollars you save wouldn't even really be there anyways. You can be very happy with your LCD for a long time to come, and I hope you are. I still have my LCD, it however has been relegated to a back-up piece of gear now.

The ir3 is cool and flashy, but i will wait for a LONG time before i upgrade to a higher level angel. I dont really think there is that much extra in the ir3.

I love my LCD and plan to have one for a long long time. When the IR3 drops in price I will probably pick one up (to be my backup of course lol :))

I think that WDP has done an incredible job in bringing us the finest guns and am looking forward to the next generation Angel. Who knows, maybe it'll be completely redesigned and have all the great features from the LED to IR3 and some. I just think that on the lines of electronics, they should kill the idea of a trillion modes of fire and infrared.
I think that the only features should be: adjustable intellifeed, cops, semi mode only, dwell, trip/od, faults, mbps, and maybe internal pressure. Not to mention improved internal components.
That would be totally worth my money to upgade to.

They should make everything adjustable by the electronics. To change everything you said, but also velocity, LPR, snap ring. That would be real nice.

I am a great fan of the lcd. Someone said in a post way befor mine that the ir3 is mad for the frontplayer but really i am a fron player and i am always at the low 50's of the break. I personally like the lcd up front better then the ir3 the feel of it i think is great and yes i have played with both guns. the only thing i really like on the ir3 is the space frame and i have heard that alot of people are trying to build one right now for the lcd so when that comes out i will buy one as long as that dumb trigger guard isnt on it ( i dont like it when it goes from top to bottome of the trigger frame) but as u guys no these are my opinions and im sure every1 out there has different ones but i think i will wiat till the new generation of Angels are out befor i upgrade thanks

You sure do shoot a lot Emmit. I hope you are on a team that has a sponsor who buys you paint ;)

I think that a lot of LCD owners have put insane amounts of money into upgrading our guns that there are really no noticeable improvements in performance between a sweet LCD and an IR3.

Emmit
11-12-2002, 07:59 AM
antk9......nope no paint sponsor.....don't I wish tho. I will say tho that my guys in front, and in snakes certainly love it when I'm playing the back because they know that I'm laying the paint to cover them, and keep their oponents in so that they can make the moves. I love playing front and only shooting 2 or 3 pods a game, being agressive and in your face the whole time, but being 6'5" it's just not in the cards at the higher levels of play. Locally, or on rec-ball days sure, but not in the NPPL. So I just stick with a nice mid to back bunker where I can rain the paint where my front guys need it.

As for a performance difference between an LCD and an IR3.....well that's all up to the user.

Have fun and Be Safe!

My guys all shoot LCD's. It is very nice to have your back player unloading on the other team. Unloading and talking at the same time is very helpful........

crap im late. anyways a lot of u guys say you never have any problems with your LCDs but i upgraded from an LED and ever since i have still had to use my led because my LCD never works. i have had nothing but problems with it it had to be a fluke gun i guess. but what really ticked me off was that once i had replaced ALL the internals my board takes a crap (waranty is already over ofcourse) and the cheapest place i can find to get a new board and good stuff like that is 60 bucks so im either goin to sell or trade for a ir3 or seach the rest of my time tryin to find a place cheaper. if you can HELP!!!

Well, I never break paint shooting 14BPS, and it is awesome accurate. I mean how can a gun possibly be better? What's the use of the COPS when I never break paint as it is?

Only thing I would like on my dark LCD, would be the IR3 frame, how it is angled. I like how it feels. But besides that, I like my LCD.

w00T! LCD player chiming in. I love it, won't leave it. Loyal and faithful woman (like if that ever happens) is the only way to describe it. Broken down on me twice, but I hold no grudges. My cocker is always broken, that's a comparison for ya. I'll eventually get an IR3, it's all about the money. But after playing with one, I did feel like cheating on mine

I recently just got a new 2k2 C&C LCD DUST FADE.... and i love it. I recently bought it at skyball at WDP' booth for a pretty good price 1200 (can) or about 800 (us) and it kills my old impy. It shoots a lot faster smoother no first shot drop...its a no contest. I wont be looking into IR3's for a long time... so i guess im gonna have to stick with the LCD  like thats a bad thing :sshh:

The LCD was my first Angel. When I read about the advancements like OPTO and IR com., the temptation was too great. The best thing to me is the comfort of the space frame. My wife still enjoys the LCD. The IR3 and the LCD both KICK_SS...isn't techology great?
