stud on bolt broke

How can a stud break on your bolt. my friends bolt broke. it was a new dezigns bolt. i am pretty sure it is because his ram was set to far forward or back. how should the breech feel when you open it. i set my ram by opening and closing my breech to make sure the stud on my bolt wasnt dragging or hanging up as i opened the breech.

Check your ram. It was probably set to far forward. Also check your exhaust valve, that might be pushed back.

I have heard that this isnt uncommon with those bolts. It is the same bolt I have and of course you always hear these things after you buy them. Regardless, I have put about 12XXX through this bolt and have had no problems.

I thought you were suppose to get a small "click" when you open or close your breech? I read that somewhere in a tutorial or maybe that was the problem...? Any one else have any input on this?
