Okay since it was brought up, and it was sort of discussed. How much does "looks" play in what equipment you buy? This means everything...pants, shoes, jersies, gear bags, hoppers, masks, guns, barrels, tanks etc.

I personally think that looks is a major part in any purchase especially paintball. My examples are simply the things I've purchased in the last month (ie Cup).

DYE shoes...they looked nice which is what interested me to begin with, I tried them on, and they felt comfortable. So this was both a comfort, and a looks issue.

Redz pants...purely looks. I think these pants look great, after trying them on and wearing them all Cup they are sweet. They breathe better than any other pants I've ever worn for paintball. They also seem like they'll hold up quite well.

Angel AIR...this one was actually both...it looks good on my IR3, and it performs beautifully

Dark IR3...now c'mon...this is all about looks. I could saved a couple hundered bucks and bought a stock or a C&C, but I wanted the Dark because it looks so much nicer.

Now a few months back I also purchased a Freak...well it came with the standard aluminum pieces in black...well I ordered a silver tip, and a stainless back because it matched the fade on my LCD so much better (it's a silver to blue Dark). Well I just happened to have the black pieces still lying around, and guess where they are now....right on my IR3. Why? Because it looks so much better than anything else out there right now in my opinion.

So let's hear how many other people say that looks or fashion plays a part in their purchases...

why else would you customize an angel.....99% o the upgrades are cosmetic....dye shoes bought at cup mostly for looks, but they are a great p ball shoe. my only complaint is that there needs to be a larger toe nub for starts.they look great and perform great... jerseys..mostly looks, why else would the desidns change every year?the only company that had improvements(from what i saw)was dye adding the elbow and shoulder pads into it and also the rubber for the tank.looks dont neccessarily mean performance, but hey i suck but look good doin it :)

I have 20 pairs of shoes, I really need say no more. But its all what you like and how far you are willing to go for looks. If you say i wont buy a Freak because the inserts dont all match your gear or only use the insert that matches i have to say you need help. But if there is a choice and if the addition is functional to your game then why not, like playing baskerball in combat boots. Fashion comes with paintball like any other sport, look at it this way: DYE is to paintball like Nike is to basketball. The sport calls for fashion. Magazines sell because of what info they have inside and i havent seen one yet that dosent do gear reviews of some sort.

Sport + Gear + human intrest for being seen = Fashion

when it comes to paintball....its about equal for me...i think anything that u basically add to an Angel, besides a barrel and such...is all just for looks....as for the barrel part though...i wanted good looks and performance....so i bought the boomstick with a green tip....i did it because i really dont think a black tip would look good on my gun....
but when it comes to clothing...comfort counts....most of the gear i wear is JT.....but i will not buy jt gloves.....i just dont like the look and feel of them....so i rather wear dye....

so i think it balances itself out for me...

im a compulsive shopper when it comes to piantball. Seriously, i walk into a paintball store and i walk out with half the store. It sucks because i have tons of stuff that i will never use, but at the same time i love paintball soo much that i would never think of selling it, well, maybe a few things. The other day, i walked into my local shop, velocity paintball, and i bought a 2k2 Angel LCD and a gen-x4 cocker. Why? who the hell knows, it was there and i was like damn, those look sexy, so i bought them. Now, as im sitting here typing this, im looking at these guns that i will most likely never use except for in my backyard. Fashion does play a big role for me, i mean, all the stuff i buy is the top of the line stuff and i know tere are better things for less, but i cant help it. The only thing that i have ever bought with strictly performance in mind, was when i bought my IR3(first Angel), everything else was fashion this, fashion that. Hell, i have 4 halo-B's all in different colors, but i dont use any of them, I use a 12v revy with x-board. In fact, i just sole my black halo-b for $30.00 brand new to a friend (kenny) from team Rat Paq in Nevada. I just play because i love the sport, in fact, some of my friends call it a disease for the amount of money i put into it (put about $4,300 into it this month alone, §§§§).

J, this is what im sayin, If you play basketball or any other "major" sport your whole uniform can be by Nike (pants, gloves, shoes) and the same with DYE for paintball, but they are both missing out on a sale somewhere. Nike does not sale Cups and Dye does not sale loaders. so from top to bottom can you be "Dye from head to toe"? Yes. Same with Nike. from Head gear =hat, to Dye shoe = Nike cleat.

good thing my idea of good looks is all my parts are black. black markers, black tanks, df, hopper, freak kit, mask, jersey, pants, only thing i dont wear or use that isnt black is my red fox gloves. the reason i wear fox gloves?? because that what i wore when ihad 4 wheelers and dirt bikes and they fit to good to buy anything else. so, all my fashion is function i guess. i may send my angel out for milling and bead blast black anno next spring but, thats only a thought.
