I have been chopping with my speed now for about four months. I get at least one chop out of a hopper full. I have a halo with the z-code(I've also tried a revy), a nw lowrise. I have my lpr set a 50 psi and dwell at 17 like ken suggested. On sensi mode 2 or off I will chop bad. Sensi mode 1 I will chop less. I calibrate the sensi everytime I turn it on and the rod is clean and it passes the test everytime. My ram is adjusted as far forward that it can go with the breach still being able to open. My detents look ok, I guess(It's my first angel, so I think they look good).
When I say chop, I mean paint on the bolt, paint ozing out the breach, paint up in the feed all the way up to the bottom of the halo, and paint all down the barrel.
I'm not sure if it is the paint or not, but it has been happening all summer long with different paint so I don't beleive it is the paint.
Is the a4 bolt my only solution?Or am I missing something because I read on this forum most of you can turn sensi off and rip, but with my speed there is no way. It will make a mess.

the ram sounds good. maybe the ball detents ( but they should still be good , new gun and all ). i would raise the loader just a bit in the feed tube. that would change the ball stack orientation to the loaders eyes. maybe the ball stack is lined up at the spot where two balls meet is in front of the eye, causing the eye not to see a ball sometimes , and forceing more balls down on them. of course your z code should prevent this from being a problem.
do you get the same results with other loaders? maybe a burr in the loader cutting the balls.
i would take the barrel off and watch to see how the balls line up in the feed. REMEBER : NO AIR OR PUT YOUR GOGGLES ON FOR THIS ONE!!!
good luck, i hope you get it worked out

I have tryed two halos TE and Z-code, and a revy. They have all chopped.
How are the balls supposed to look through the barrel hole? Should you not see the second ball? If you do how do you fix this problem without sanding the halo to fit the factory feed neck?

if you do see any of the second ball, it should be very little.
try this. barrel off, breech open, sensi rod out ( so you don't break it ) move the bolt in and out of the load area by hand with the loader on. to see if there is enough ball showing to pinch. also see what the ball stack looks like with you loading 4 or 5 by hand( no loader = no downward preasure ) to see the natural position.
have you tried a low rise. alot of people had problems with the stock rise and halo's. mine worked fine, but i switched for the lower profile.
also, i noticed my halo does not like large paint. we have some of those t-ball ( rubber practice balls ) they would not fit down the entry cone in my halo, but fit fine in the egg.
i love the halo, i just got a good deal at cup on an egg. $75 for a smoke egg and z board. as soon as i build my new halo shell, the egg will go on the 3rd string gun.
keep asking questions and tring settings, when you get this worked out you will be very happy with the speed. nothing sucks more than having youe a%$ kicked because your paint won't fly stright.

When I get home I will look at the stack up. I already have a low rise from nw. So I'm not sure where to go from here. Maybe the a4 bolt.

Try to adjust the ram so that the bolt just clicks on the back of the hammer. If it's gassed up it's a little tighter. You should try to adjust the ram when your gassed up. The breach should give a little resistance when you open it gassed up.
Take the LPR side maximizer off.
Try sensi 4. It's fast enough. ;)

This may not help at all, but have you tried removing the low rise and replacing it with the stock gated feed neck? I had a similar problem with chopping (mine was actually worse) that started after I added the A+ low rise. The only way I've been able to cure it is to put my stock rise back on the marker. I've been using an Egg II with the stock rise, not a Halo. I'm going to sand my Halo neck and try that this weekend with the stock rise.

Just one thing to try. Maybe the maximizer gets too deep into the body?

I use Blaze and haven't had any problems with it.
I did however have something of a chopping problem. My SENSI managed to get cheesed (not sure how, but now its completely out of the marker until I can get a new mechanism)
A friend of mine (Morant who frequents these boards) did a TOE adjustment and it fixed the chopping problem... No SENSI, dropped down the MROF, and I'm using a really crappy Richochet hopper. I'm sure that only barely being able to outshoot the hopper is a factor.

is your bolt in good shape? check it for nicks cus that could be the problem. or maybe are your dentents in the right way? the rounded part facing teh inside of teh gun, or do you know what operating pressure you are putting through it?

Ken
I don't know anyone with a evo 2. I did a ram ajustment with the air on and it might have cleared it up. Are you supposed to check your ram with or without air?

I may have fixed it. I was adjusting the ram with no air hooked up like the manual says, but I guess you are supposed to do it with air. There is a big differance. I have shot two halos full with no chops. I am playing a big game on sunday so I will know if it is fixed then. If not I will have to go and see Ken.
