View Full Version : still getting chops

alright today with my speed i was getting occasional chops, sometimes on the first shot when shooting very slow, during a string, randomly. sometimes i could shoot a full clean string.
my setup was:
A+ low rise
ram has been adjusted before, adjusted it again during the day.
freak barrel
halo b w/ z-code
sensi mode 2(took 10 shots before every game to calibrate it)
1 week old green big ball
dwell at 9 with hp pure energy pre-set tank
should i try on sensi mode 1 or 4? and re-adjusting my ram.
i read that thread on the a+ low rises causing chops. could it be that? or maybe ball detents, though it didn't seem like it was double feeding, and the breaks seemed very late, but when looking into the barrel it looked fine.

well maybe your dwell was set too low

Dude the last thing I can think of is trying the A4 bolt, which may eliminate some of the dbl feeding, by holding the ball in the breech closer to the detents.
Other than that, get rid of the Halo, and use an Eggy w/ a nice board or even a Revy X-board.

ill keep that in mind with switching to a4 bolt and egg.

hmmm big ball isnt the greatest of all paints...try something like Competitive edge or evil..... also your dwell might be TOO HIGH.....i dont know though..just try a different paint

It should work w/ just the Egg and not even the 4 bolt, but the bolt cannot hurt.
Also trying upping your dwell and maybe adjusting your ram (should hear a click when you close your breech). If the Egg doesn't fix chops.

i'll try experimenting with these things all week.

ram seems to be good, clicks when closing it and has a little resistence when opening the breach, feels like it may have too much resistence when opening though.

get rid of your halo and get a evo 2 with z board i had the same problem chopping balls all the time played with my evo and got the z board put on not one break the rest of the day

Have you EVER tried a diff. hopper on it?
I had the biggest problems ever w/ a Halo for a whole day and I just gave up on it (might try it again when my 4 Bolt comes), been using simply a Revy X-Board since.
Today my gun absolutely ripped. I chopped twice but that is because I was in mode 2 (simply sends delay, still fires), and I was shooting long ass strings of paint at high ROF.

yea i sold my x-board revvy but it sucked with it, shoot a string and i would have to wait a long time to have it catch up.
just for later reference, how much does a smoke z-boarded egg cost? and does it work on the stock rise or will it/does it need a low rise?

even with z-board? 22bps sounds fast.

if i z board my egg so it feeds 22bps, will it be forcing paint into the marker as hard as aHalo does?
Im worried that if I add a Z board im going to get Halo problems, should I just stay with Y board?

probably not since i guess its just the paddle spinning faster and its not true force feed like the halo so probably not.

Have you tried changing out your A+ with the stock rise? I'm also having major chopping problems that seem to be caused by the A+ low rise.

Sorry you're having problems I've got the exact same setup and my gun just plain rips. I have chopped twice (only at the Chrono) and at those times w/sensi on people said I was up in the red in ROF so I'm assuming I actually outshot the Halo (I doubt it, but anyway).
Is there paint on the face of the bolt? If not you're not chopping. You're getting barrel breaks. I tried an Egg with my Low Rise and had nothing but problems.
Set up your gun. Remove the barrel, and look down into the breach area after adding paint and turning on your Halo (I know I probably don't have to say that but ...). Can you see the bottom of the second ball in the stack? If so there's your problem. It might be worth checking your detents as well. After all they are only plastic and might have worn down just enough.

alright going to try to fix it today finally.

alright i finally got some time today for my speed. first i adjusted the ram so it clicks when it closes and theres a little force you have to pull against it to open it. then i put my halo on and looked in the breach and i could see one ball in the breach along with the bottom part of the next one on top. so thats a problem there.
since the rams adjusted i guess the only solution for this is to try an a4 bolt wouldn't it? i cant think of anything else.
also last weekend i was stupid and when i was chranoing i had to screw in the screw on reg as far in as i could and now i cant get it out, have any suggestions on how else i could get it out?

I'd tend to doubt that the A-4 bolt is going to cure your problem. You might want to try an Evo II and/or change your A+ rise back to the stock, just to see if that is the source of the chopping.

Halo B's cause big problems with speeds, chopping and ruining your sensi rod. The egg rips with the Z board with no troubles on my force 4

eh i dont know what else to do.
for whoever put a z-boarded egg on their speed/a4 how was it, any skips, chops, etc?

Ricky, on some SPEED-bolts the bolt pin is a little too long. This is 1/10 of a mm I'm talking about, so you can't see it just by looking at it.
Try putting just a thin film of grease on the end of it and insert it and close the rotor breech. The hammer has to be clean first of course before you try this.
Is there grease marks on the bottom of the hammer cut-down? If so, then it's probably too long causing bolt drag (like a jammed drawer) which messes up the sensi program timing = chops.
Just tap the bolt pin carefully with a hammer a few times and try the test again until there's no grease imprint. Then try the gun again with paint.
Or perhaps it will work fine if you change to a 4-bolt because the new pins on the loose 4-bolts being sold now are a little shorter.
