Well, I stop in at the Barnes & Noble and pick up a PGI. So I'm reading through it and see this one article "NPPL Breaks Out". Chuck Hendsch states that the NPPL is very close to having a tournament in Mexico and also nearing having tournaments in South Africa and New Zealand. It was also hinted that one US tournament might be dropped which would likely be Las Vegas.

I'm not sure what to think about this. :puzzled: An upside to it is that it would help showcase some good teams that can't afford to travel to the US or UK to play with the big boys. Yet it would also hender some of the better teams from playing. I'm sure Dynasty, Avalanche, Strange, and BC could travel to all three new locations but I'm pretty sure that the TonTons and Joy Division don't want to go to New Zealand. But who knows.

What do you guys think about expanding the tournament locations?

it's really the only to make it an International venture. Currently 2 of the 7 legs are held in Europe. The only question is will these events held outside of the main be profitable or not. I am not sure that they'd get a lot of the big name teams to New Zealand, or South Africa without some persuasion. This would leave the fields at those events devoid of the big names, and might just in fact be no more than a local event for some. :wink:

imo its great in theory to expand to different areas like this, i think it can bring new players to the sport, and give paintball a more international image similar to formula one racing (in that they travel all over the world, however F1 is not exactly the most popular sport in the us), but on the other hand its also expensive and time consuming for the teams to travel to south africa and new zealand for one tourny (im assuming its one tourny each location) even when sponsors pay the travel costs for them its cash that the teams wont see.
as far as im concerned if i were on a pro team (god willing, someday!) and was given the chance to play in south africa, mexico, and new zealand, or greenland ,alaska ,costa rica or antarctica for that matter i would jump at the chance, but thats just the way i am
so i think that increasing the number of countries that tournys are held in, while not as convenient as keeping the bulk of them in one country, can privide a bonus to the sport (even if its just an exotic backdrop on the videos)
in conclusion id say go for (but keep las vegas, just because) but i think its going to be a trial and error experience at first = }
