Guys (and girls),

Are they making the LCD in 2003? And if so, any changes?

Anyone know? Bueller?..

Is my 2002 Gonna be obsolete?

from what has been said there won't be any new LCD's...however WDP did still have some at Cup. So if you've got a 2k2 that's probably the last model LCD. IR3's are all the rage now, and they are sweet.

well crap...i guess LCD's are going to be basically at the same level as LED's....but a little higher......i guess IR3's are just taking over.....if the prices drop...i just might have to pick one up...

I picked up an IR3 on my way to Cup, and let me tell you from everything I've done so far, and all the people that I've talked to about them the IR3's is just a much nicer gun than the LCD. I was a firm believer in the fact that the LCD didn't offer anything I really needed over the LED, well the IR3 is above and beyond the LCD in every aspect. They've made it smaller (ie lighter), more comfortable, and the LCD screen is actually useful now, in other words the messages. You'd be well advised to get an IR3. That's my 2 shiny copper pieces on the subject

LCD is cooler looking than the ir3 in my opinion, i dont like the frames on the ir3.

I have personally contacted Fraser Colley at WDP UK reguarding this subject. He expressed WDP's continuing commitment to the LCD line of Angel's, so, YES there WILL be a 2k3, as well as continued parts and service for all existing LCD models.

Wow, That's great to hear.

Personally, I love both guns.. But I am glad to hear that my 2002 won't be totally obsolete looking on the field next year.

I really love the IR3's, just not sure the features are worth paying for (since I already have a LCD). Who knows, come springtime, I may pick one up anyway in addition to the LCD.

Gotta Love them Angels.

I love both guns but it looks like I am going to have to get rid of my 2k2 angel and get a fly IR3:lost:

i think the IR3s snap shoot a lot better then the LCDs but i guess its just personal preference.

seriously, that has to be one of the stupidest things i have ever heard. WDP put making lcds on hold? and they are going to make more once what, the IR3 rush is over? or once they get more machining equipment???? I have been working in a window manufacturing plant for 6 years now and we can barely shut the place down for a holiday with out falling behind or working extended periods of overtime to keep up with demand let alone stop producing a certain model of window to build a new type then go back to making an old style window again. That would be like GM bringing back the 2002 camaro in 2005, it just doesnt make sense. but what the hell do i know. :duh: anyway, maybe this will be WDPs answer to the impulse and bushmaster. the LCD can be their uhm entry level marker from them???? well that didnt make sense, maybe you guys will know what i mean though. the lcd can be WDPs entry level marker while the IR3 is the PRO level marker???

that would be great...i mean look at the LCD prices already....if they are around the same price...no doubt in my mind that they will have alot of sales of the 2k3 LCD...

I was just saying though, its kind of odd to completely stop making something for 9 or ten months then plan on starting back up making LCDs. why not make an IR3 with out cops and infared and the IR3 handle. use the IR3 body and internals and put them on a LCD trigger frame and board. that sounds better right?

WDP is pretty much done with the LCD's. You will probably see them every once in a while for sale somewhere, or another. It is just like when they went from LED to LCD, the LED's started to phase out. Sooner, or later the LCD's will gradually start to also. It will eventually come down to all iR3.

i still think WDP needs a marker that is cheaper then an IR3 to go up against all the crappy bushmasters, ok timms, and semi decent impulses. A 2K3 LCD, composed of the IR3 body and internals with a regular lcd board, and trigger frame would most likely be the way to go since they have the tooling for all of the parts anyway. but only if it was 900 msrp.

That would jade WDPs reputation of only putting out the best on the market.

hows that? then they would have a true basic model then a Pro series. for real though, the C&C is nice looking and the Fly is ok but neither offers anything more then what the standard IR3 offers. WDP needs to offer a true basic model for less then what the standard, C&C, and Fly sell for.
Here is a list of things WDP can get rid of on the IR3:
C.O.P.S: just about every body turns this off.
Infra red: just because your settings work great on your marker doesnt mean they will work great on everybody elses.
Gated feed neck: keeps the paint in your feed neck when you take your loader off after playing. now you have to either shoot it or take apart your marker to get the 4 balls out (or how ever many are in it)
but thats just my thought. most people dont like what i think anyway so dont get mad if i said something you dont agree with.

there is a viable point to some of the arguements here, but until someone here becomes a fly on the wall at WDP we'll never really know. Yes it would be nice if WDP made a lower priced Angel that performed just as good that it could compete with $800 Imps, and GZ's etc. However it doesn't really look like it's going to happen. As for the comment about trashing WDP's rep...well that would happen. Here's how...say they strip out the IR3, or even toned down the LCD. They sell it for $800 and get all the people that were sitting on the fence about either an Angel or say a GZ...now all these people aren't happy because they coulda bought the full blown version for say another $200. This causes people to bad mouth WDP. Look at the company making the Matrix...they put out a product hoping to compete with Angels, and all the other electros out there at the time, and everyone knows you can't pick up a Matrix out of the box and shoot it, you have to sink more money into it. With the current Angels you can take it out of the box, put air on it, and BAM!! you're going baby!

this is just a differing voice and food for thought...I may be way off, but again we'll never really know until someone is that fly in WDP's offices.

If they do make the 2k3's maybe they will come with a space frame with LCD board. There might be other feature's on the board what could be useful.
