WARREN - A former FedEx Ground worker has been charged with two felonies after
allegedly stealing three paintball guns being shipped through the company's
sorting center off Market Street and trying to sell them on eBay, the online
auction Web site.
Giuseppe Bugge, 23, of 161 Commonwealth Rd., Warwick, turned himself in to
Warren police last Thursday. He faces one count each of embezzlement and
receiving stolen goods for the theft of the guns valued at $3,759.50.
He's set to appear in District Court on Friday.
Bugge's arrest was the result of a two-month investigation coordinated by
Warren Sgt. Roy Borges.
Bugge allegedly stole the paintball guns from a shipment bound for California
from the Warren office of Planet Eclipse, a British company that sells
paintball equipment.
When the guns didn't arrive in California the security department at FedEx
Ground, a subsidiary of Federal Express, carried out an internal investigation
and reported the theft to the police on Aug. 21.
They also reported that the stolen guns matched the description of three guns
that were up for sale on eBay.
The guns being pretty unique there was no question these were the same guns on
eBay, said Lt. Joseph Loiselle.
The police connected Bugge to the theft through an email address listed with
the sale, said Loiselle. Police said they believe Bugge didn't act alone, and
the investigation of the scheme is continuing.
Bugge was dismissed from his job at the FedEx Ground facility at 15 New
Industrial Rd., according to Loiselle.
