Old paint

Hey guy my bro and I were talk and we could figure out how old paint has to be to be considered old paint. I here this term a lot, but how old is old. Look you go to you local paintball store and buy a case of paint it sits in you room for about 2-3 week and then you shoot it. But how long was the paint in the store for, and how long did it sit on a shelf at the factory? Right now I know I have a case of "old" evil paint, or its just a bad batch, because the fill is starting to separate. When shot at a wall the liquidy fill sticks to the wall and the heavy thick fill just fall to the ground. To make thing worse I just bought this paint last weekend. So since its been in my hands the paint is a week old. So how long did is sit there at the store, and the factory????????? How old does paint have to be to be consider old paint????????:puzzled: :scratchhe

I dont know :confused: lol but a friend of mine went to walmart one time and put his initials on a case of BE paint and went back 4 months later and it was still there

as for how old does it have to be before it becomes old??

I think most of the time if it's been sitting in your place for more than a month it's old paint.

Most stores don't keep paint around for more than a week or so at a time. I know the place I buy paint from gets paint in like every week. Most fields don't have paint for more than a week or so. I'd say 2 at the most for field paint.

If you're sitting on paint that's 2+ months.....that's OLD paint.

If you end up keeping paint for a while, its good to flip the box over every few days. Might help keep the fill from separating bit, and it will definitely help prevent dimples from the balls sitting on each other.
I practiced with some paint that had been sitting in pods in my car for 3-4 weeks (My car is always parked outside in the sun too!). My friend had the some kind of paint, ended up with us psting on each other until a ball finally went straight and hit.

I've got to go with the if you don't shoot it in a month it's old theory. I've gone so far as to rotate individual bags every two days just to keep flat spots from forming but I always try to shoot it the same month I buy it.

if you're gonna keep it, and leave it in a box, here's a little trick....write the numbers 1-6 on it, and rotate it once a week in sequential order....

yeah, those are great! if they swell up, then just whip out the homemade barrel that you made from copper piping!!

I had a case of Big Ball, 2 bags were open and 2 bags were un-opened, the case was untouch for around 2 weeks, when i shot the 2 open bags i was choppin like crazy, but when i shot the fresh bags of paint NO chops!
I think it has to do with the AIR touching the paint, some how making the paint "crapy/old"

the paint absorbs moisture from the air, that's what causes it to go bad. That's the reason all the companies went to sealed bags in the first place, and now PMI is going to the ziploc type bags.

ummm i think anything older then a month is old, however i did have a bag of 200 PMI premium for 5 months once when i first began that shot well out of the ol' 98....as for the vaccum sealed bags, they last for a while...
