Why DYE sucks

I hate DYE. I hate DYE with a passion. I love JT. I love JT with a passion.

Barrels
DYE: Quite overpriced and the bores are inconsistent.
JT: Reasonable prices and bores are consistent.
Winner: JT

Apparel
DYE: Has used illegal extra padding to get players bounces and dont change design often.
JT: Has enough padding so that you're not going to hurt yourself but not get kicked out of a tourney and usually come out with 2-3 jersey designs each year.
Winner: JT

Masks
DYE: Only has the Invision which is a low profile mask that fits closely to player's faces.
JT: Has many different masks in ranging prices for beginners to pros. Proflexes and Flex 7's allow for bounces.
Winner: JT

Paint
DYE: Markets no paint.
JT: Markets Maxim2.
Winner: JT

Overall Winner: JT :clap: :tongue: :worthy:

So DYE can just go on and fold cuz they'll never be as good as JT :madd:

i do prefer a proflex...they fit better on my big head and god knows you won't get a bounce if you get clipped in the grill wearing an invision.

dye stuff is pimp, everybody knows it...everything they make looks good, and, it's mostly all very functional if not better than most.

you can be a jt fan but don't be dissin the rest of us dye whores cus we look good :)

It was the NPPL, not the PSP. There are some thoughts that it's NPPL's way of getting back at DYE because they are not a NPPL Sponsor. Truth?:dunno: There was a lot of announcements at the beginning of the season about it, they allowed them at HB, because of the short notice, but they were supposed to be considered illegal by Vegas unless you removed the padding in the shoulders, and if you left the padding in the elbows you weren't allowed to wear elbow pads:dunno:

Weird because we're planning to play at Vegas PANAM the December and what they're saying is you have to wear a tank top t-shirt if you wear the DYE jersey. I know the PANAM isn't the NPPL but it seems odd that there would be that much of a difference. The RUMOR, and I stress it's only a RUMOR, I heard is that certain people claimed that the DYE jersey changed the outcome of last years Cup and that that's why the league was going to ban 'em.

I love Dye's 3 down pack. It is so comfortable and great for me as a front player.

Dye's full finger gloves are comfortable, but I hate the fact they contain an urn full of ash. I ran the gloves under my tub faucet for over 10 minutes and a mountain of black soot stained the tub.

As for Dye being an overall quality vender, I disagree. Depending on their products, some are good and others suck. Some Dye after market products are worse than stock and possibly defective (such as their Cocker 3 Way and Angel Bolt).

In my opinion, Dye equipment is too expensive and highly overrated. Yes, the Boomstick is a good barrel. No, it is absolutely not worth over $100 more than the J&J Ceramic Barrel, nor is it worth nearly the same as my Freak Kit.

What it comes down to is that all you are really paying for is the Dye name, which I do not trust.

that said i think dye does make good apparel as far as parts go they have a long way to go.
I like the barrels but seriously who needs a titanium barrel.

Dye- Last Longer

Dye - Look cooler, dont feel as itchy, padding is a +

Dye- Feel much beter, i hate my JT ones

Dye - Gotta love the micro injection stuff

My JT jersey is awesome :) if i get shot i can just stand there for about 15 seconds and the paint will have soaked into the jersey and you cant even tell ive been shot :sad: now everyone knows the secret to my success

I do not particularly care for the Dye pants. I wear the JT ones and think they are great. The one tiff I have with them is the leg squeege holders, they don't work. Every time I put a squeege in there it comes loose, but does not fall all the way out and gets stuck. However, the Dye pants do not even have a bottom for their squeege holders and they sometimes just fall through. Lame. :scratchhe

i like the wide variety in the jt jerseys, all the dye ones look the same, i especially like the ones jt makes specially for teams, like the ton tons and dynasty jerseys, those are so pimp, specially the dynasty one :) nicest jersey ever IMO

Dye makes good products overall. On some of their products, the opverpricing really shows. Like their $300 throttle system, and thats only a preset. Yeah it looks good, that's what Dye seems to be good at. But I have always like JT too. JT does own Dye in masks (I hate the foam on Invisions), but I really didn't like their last run of jerseys and gloves. Hopefully 2004 will be a better year.
I think another major factor is that Dye has better marketing than JT.

Dye markets their pro players more...i always see tm or rw (hey he has the same initial as i do) in adds, but not ol or af or anything...

JT's stores at events are nothing compared to Dye's walmart like sales tent, so that gets them lots of attention, while the JT booth is mostly empty....

but as we all know, the main reason why dye is sucessfull is because of the dye girls!

i wanna be the classic mix and match whore. i have jt pants and jersy, want dye pads cause i have to drop my drawers and adjust my knee pads after nearly every game. i want dye's old slide shorts, you know the ones with teh built in cup those were nice.

it wasnt the elbow pads that got them in trouble, they just couldnt use more elbow pads under the jersey, the sholder pads screwed them.

Any way some of Dye's products are good and some are bad but there is no company that is perfect.

their ATC's are awesome, their pants are great, and their barrels are of better quality than JT's even thought they cost more. If your looking for quality, price shouldn't be your biggest concern. For example if your gonna get the Freak kit i doubt your thinking its too expensive, your probably just thinking i have 1 of best barrels out there and i know that its a quality barrel.

and if you don't like their jerseys then don't wear them and don't complain

I also don't understand how you can compare their paint if Dye doesn't even make any. And I don't think that just because a comapny dosent make paint that they suck.

And you can't deny that Invision is a good goggle system, if you like JT masks better thats your choice but that also doesn't make Dye suck.

viper i totally agree, dye's atc's are awsome. i just got a pair and i love em. ive owend a pair of jt pants, then i just bought a pair of dye's and ive never looked back. even though i dont use them on my angel, i have used booms before and they are way better than any jt barrel i have used.

Actually the prices are around the same. Boomstick is around 90.
2 piece JT barrel is 40 for a back and 40 for a front so 80.

I wouldnt call a Freak one of the best barrels out there because there are 4 or 5 kits better than them that but thats a subject we'll talk about another time.

I was merely stating that JT made paint which was another upside. I didn't say "Dye sucks cuz they dont make paint" I was saying "JT makes paint while Dye doesn't which is another strong point."

I do prefer a ProFlex over an Invision because IMO the Flex has more room and gets more bounces and I also hear that the lenses on Invisions are quite hard to get out.

Guys, I'm not out to lead a revolution against Dye. I was just trying to straighten out some of the misconceptions that Dye is better than other companies merely because "well it costs more so it must be better"

what i dont understand is that u r saying that dye is over priced, yet there barrels cost the same. The invision costs only about 10 dollars more than a profelx. there jerseys cost about the same, there gloves and apperal cost the same and many other things cost the same. so Dye is not overpriced.

I'm not trying to down JT, in fact i happen to like my profelx better than any dye mask, and i do admit that SOME, not all SOME dye stuff is a little bit higher in price. But to say that dye sucks because they are overpriced when clearly there are not is the real misconception.

Only JT product I own is my mask, good mask though. From dye I just have a tank cover, my trigger guard and a 3+2 pack (which OWNZ! gotta love the lumbar pillow) A friend with the JT pants hated them, werent supposed to machine wash them. the dye's you can toss in the washer and not look back. Jerseys, I dont care I wear my team jersey everywhere

the comment about DYE markers is really an interesting one...

DYE has their version of the Cocker....interestingly enough their Cocker doesn't even come with an inline reg:doh: I'm not a fan of their hinge trigger either. So their Custom Cocker goes out the window. They've got the Matrix now:throwup6: is all I need to say.

Their one shining moment was that they began distributing the Earon Carter line of markers. Carter makes some of the best pump markers in the world....too bad DYE priced them right out of most peoples range:wall::thumbsdow

inconclusion dye does not suck. Some of there stuff is overpriced, but you pay for quality IMO. there markers are ok for there price, and IMO there gloves and other apparel kick @$$.

dynastysss, ive used one of the JT packs for a lil bit (be4 it got taken away). Im sure u all know how the look by now (identical to redz) but the "padding" in...interesting and the straps are easier to pull down, the material isnt that breakable stuff like the JT pro ones, its the good stuff that dosent melt in the sun or rip, and the belt is fairly good ( i think it was attatched ), so its bascly a Redz harness for cheaper, but i think its a lil better. I acualy thought that they would be out for the cup for sure but i guess they still need to improve them a little.

Being that I am a tall player (6'6") I loathe all of Dye's clothing. The sleeves are far too short, as are the pants. Granted I'm most definitely the minority here but hey....

However, I love the Invision (its so comfortable) and they make the most durable tank cover on the planet.

Um... no. The redz dimension does not allow you to add/remove pod LOOPS. The pack can hold up to 20 pods (with sleeves). It can be a 3+4, 4+5... etc... just with the addition of subtraction of sleeves. It's the most innovative pack I've seen, great for backtapes.
