I was all for them untill i went to impact paintball one day and the dude working there told me not to get one because they tear up the body. Is this true?

Thanks!
Corey

the theory behind the SS hammer is that you don't wear out the hammer and you don't get the brass shavings in your marker....now the theory behind the brass hammer is that you wear out the hammer and not the body if something is misaligned.

So your choice is this....a SS hammer that if it comes loose, or misaligned will do body damage, and damage the exhaust valve etc, or a brass hammer that will simply wear out faster if there is a misalignment.

WDP chose a soft metal so as not to damage your irreplaceable body, you can replace a hammer for a few bucks...you can't replace the body, and having to have someone machine all the damage out would cost you quite a bit too.

Many users claim to never have a single problem with it, but it does void the warranty on your marker. Best bet is to stay with the Brass Hammer that WDP put it.

infact the new speeds DO come w/ the stainless hammer. we have 5 speeds in our little family and only the first one came w/ a brass hammer, once it was all bent out of shape WDP replaced it w/ a stainless one.

At about what serial number did they switch out to stainless steel? Also, this may sound like a silly question...but do stainless steel hammers ever wear out? I heard someone mention they had a million shots with (not sure if they were embellishing to make a point or not though).

I was always told to not switch away from brass for the very same reason that was mentioned before... I guess if WDP is putting them in stock, then maybe I was confused about something.
