Interested in some opions. How do you all think it would work if I were to:
-Drill out the trigger down the square bar from the top of the trigger about 1/2 inch.
-Insert an old LED trigger return spring.
I'm thinking this woud speed up the return stroke (higher rates of fire) and save some wear on the Opto switch leaf spring.
What do you guys think???

nah man, when we did my trigger job, we took an old spring from a vm-68, drilled a hole in the top of the trigger to fit it about half way in, and then just re-installed the trigger, no magnets, plan and simple
and i think it works great...
funny though, spent 1200 on my set-up, and used a .05 cent spring from a like 10 yeah old gun to get it where i like it....

that's allot more work than just glueing a magnet to the body...
gluing? Don't you have to drill moogle? I haven't really read up on this mod, but it sounds very tempting!! SOmeone please clue me in, all the threads I saw had people drilling their guns, or was that just durtwyrm.... Hmm, I forget. Also I have a question for the magnetic trigger users: Is the trigger pull stiff? Walking my trigger is necessary and I want to know if you can make it stiff. Thanks boys!

My magnetic trigger is just a allan screw that is hollow all the way through screwed into the hole where the toe ajustment is made and the magnet fits inside the allan screw.
I'm not sure what you just said, but there's a magnet inside where your TOE screw used to be? or in the hole in the frame that leads to the toe screw?

or just dont risk screwing up and buy a cobra trigger, which will be faster anyway

This is exactly what I was thinking. I've got access to an aircraft quality machine shop that could drill the hole exactly how I'd want it. And just for the reasons you mentioned.
I did go look at the Cobra trigger and if this get screwed up it's what I'll be getting. After all it's exactly what I'm looking at doing.

where do you stick the magnet? what did you use'/?
RaistlinsLegacy
09-07-2003, 07:37 PM
you place an allen wrench screw in the TOE hole, and you put the magnet in it, at least thats what the wdp techs did to me..
JT2002
09-07-2003, 09:04 PM
so you need a whole new screw?
JT2002
09-08-2003, 04:52 PM
where do you get this allen screw?

Just take the trigger with you and get one that fits.
krispy
09-08-2003, 05:04 PM
No it doesn't replace the toe screw. It goes in the hole. Call Ken Crane at www.performanceangel.com. He did mine. He is a wdp tech. You can also find his number on www.wdp.tv. The magnetic trigger mod pulls the trigger back to the rest position, so you can walk it faster.

why don't you guys just do that mod with the eraser. It worked well for me. You just cut it to barely fit in the hole where you adjust the toe. at the end of the eraser you super glue the magnet. the metal screw get attracted by the magnet. It's in the speed forum.

09-08-2003, 05:20 PM
It's all good until your eraser gets pushed in to far and the magnet sticks causing you not to be able to fire.I couldn't find an eraser that fit just right,so i'll just tap the hole and loctite a set screw in there with the magnet attached to it.

Sorry guys but I've made up my mind. I just ordered a cobra trigger w/spring hole from Mo's.

splatworm I found a perfect eraser to use. Have you seen those eraser that is like a pen but you push it out where the clip is? well if you pull the entire eraser our you will find that is already notched out perferctly to fit in that hole. just cut it to size (the part that sticks out towards the trigger. I will take a picture of the eraser if you still do not know which one I'm talking about.
I'm sending my gun in for a tuneup at performance angel, and he's going to be installing the magnetic mod too. I'll let you guys know how it is.

I cant decide if i like it sensitive or with a lot of play. Let us know you set up the trigger Skel.
krispy

Skel you will like it. I tried to take a pic but it was too small and blurry. Ken is awesome. You will not be disapointed.
Do you have the cobra tigger also?
Sure do! I can't wait. Ken sure is the man!

ok i think i get it, so now do u mean thread an alen screw into the hole thats cut out of the trigger itself? and glue or w/e a magnet to teh side nearest teh toe hole? how long is the screw you guys are using? anyoen got a pic ot help me out'?

I tried to take a pic but it is too small. The hollowed out allen screw goes into the frame. The magnet goes into the hole of the hollowed out allen screw. The magnet has a ledge to stop it from going all the way into the frame.
JT2002
09-10-2003, 04:13 PM
and you can find these hollowed out allen screws in a hardware store?
krispy

I don't know Ken Crane did mine. I don't know where he bought the allen screw and the magnet. Call him.

Hey Krispy,
So the magnet is in the toe adjustment hole in the frame, via the hollow allen screw, and attracts the toe adjustment screw in the trigger?
Does the magnet stick out of the hollow allen screw, or does it fit flush with the end of the screw?
If you wanted to adjust the toe on your trigger you'd have to remove the hollow allen screw.
Is that a problem with the allen screw being moved around; can you easily readjust the magnet-inside-allen screw back to where it is supposed to be?
Was the toe adjustment hole threaded to accomodate the allen screw?
And how do you have your firing point set; at the begining of the trigger pull, mid, or elsewhere?
Yah… I know… lotsa questions.
But I'm very interested in this, it sounds like something I might like.
Thanx.
krispy
09-11-2003, 07:21 PM
yes, yes, and yes. The magnet is easy to remove with a allen wrench. Put the allen wrench over the magnet and it will attract. Then you can make a toe adjustment through the hollowed out allen screw.

I used a 1/4-20 set screw and glued the magnet like some of the guys did with the eraser. This way it adjusts with an allen wrench and can be changed in a matter of seconds.Just don't get carried away with changing the adjustment all of the time because the set screw went in without having to tap the hole,so the threads are shallow.
