View Full Version : Any downsides to older angel (2k)?
I'm about to get a CnC lcd in a trade and I was wondering if there was any downsides to having an angel of the year 2000..
I guess what i'm asking is what is the difference between 2k 2k1 and 2k2's?

only thing you'll wanna replace would be the battery, only because if it has the NiCad you'll want the NiMH. Other than that you should be just fine.
Nice, how much are they.. and is it necesarry, or do the NiMH's just last longer?

the NiMH does not have a battery memory like the NiCad's have a tendency to do. As for price, I usually avoid quoting prices because you never know when something could change. Check out all the Sponsors pages, they've all got them. I think last time I looked Mo's was around $60-70 but I don't know for sure.
n00b question coming-
NiCad = rechargable?
battery memory?

all Angel batteries are rechargeable
battery memory is when you recharge it before it's totally discharged and the battery eventually doesn't take a full charge. This leads to your battery running down faster with each successive charge.

Like all above, the battery is the only thing to worry about. A new one runs from $60-$100, in that range.
Also, you may or may not get a Ver.2 board in that gun,. If you have a ver 1 , you'll be looking at $75 for a replacement the first time and $25 for each replacement after. Nothing to be concerned with, but you should be aware.
Other than that, take a good look at the condition of the gun. If you think it's seen better days, send it to a sponsor and have them look at it.
Thanks for all the help.
Any suggestions on First upgrades?
Also, is there a thread with really basic info (how to chrono.. oor how/where to lube)?

I LOVE my 2K Dark, all of the above is good info. I would also ad the switch if it doesn't come with the battery upgrade. Get it a nice barrel and you will also be even happier. I added some nice grips from 32deg (on sale for $12) and I put in a titanium hammer ($24 on sale). Anything else I did was appearence and that is all personal preference. When you have gotten used to the gun let me know and I will send you one of my triggers, call it an Angel warming gift.
Nasty- Awesome, thanks for the advice, and i'd gladly take a trigger:0
It's coming with 10" boomy (my preference, I love shorty barrels), and I'll be sure to pick up a titanium hammer, and probably a new bolt. I'll be using an Egg II, will I have problems using it (bust past detents?). Maybe some volumizers.. I love the way they look.
Also, where are ti hammers available?

there's no reason to replace the hammer unless you really just want to dump money into the marker
You'll have no problems with the Evlution2 on the LCD it works just fine.
Bolt doesn't need to be replaced either, the stock bolt is just fine. There are some other bolts out there that are a little more air efficient, but again unless you just want to dump money into it you'll be fine.
Well, I'm well known for upgrading my markers to the max then trading them :)
I can't live with a completely stock marker ;)
So theres really nothing needed to upgrade (other than cosmetics that I would like), except battery (which I don't personally think is necesarry, i'll just drain all the way then charge all the way everytime).... me = wowed.

Iv'e got a 2k dark. Shoot it before you buy it. Check for excessive wear in the breech, some isn't a problem. Check the board version, and see if it shoots good. If everything is good go for it.

I did the hammer because I didn't like seein brass shavings in my gun. The TI hammer is also a lot lighter than the stock one. Emmit is right about it not being necessary, I just thouht it was a nice upgrade for little cash. Emmit is absolutely right about the bolt, I have made some and the stock bolt is actually pretty well designed.

not the 2k3's.
the 2k3's used some IR3 parts
however it will be exactly the same internally as a 2k2
