View Full Version : Feedneck Threads

I think I may have stripped the threads on my feedneck. I sanded my Halo a little too much, it still stays snug, but if I push it a little it twists. So I decided to put some tape on and see if I can keep it a little more snug. It ended up being a little too snug and now I can seperate my halo from the top portion of the feedneck. I think as I was trying to twist the halo back out, it stripped the threads because now the top part just sits in there. So I need help in two ways. #1, what would be the best way to remove the Halo from the feedneck? and #2, Am I going to have to buy a whole new feedneck or is there anything I can do to save cash?

Thanks alot.

Unfortunately if it's stripped you probably won't be able to rethread it ,unless a machine shop can add more meat to it.In the long run that will cost more then just buying a new one. That being the case slap it in a vise and pull the halo out.For a replacement i would suggest one of the clamping feeds on ebay $28? not sure if that's the exact amount.Mine works great.

The feedneck is two pieces. The bottom part with threads that attach to the body of the gun. Then there's the top part that screws into the lower section. This is where the gated feed goes. Now, what I'm confused about, is where the threads are stripped. The top part is stuck on your halo? If so, a strap wrench and some muscle can get that off. Let me know and I should be able to help further. (Captain is a machinist)

Yea, its stipped in the middle where the two pieces connect. I'll have to check at my dad's house for a strap wrench (which I'm possitive he has). The top section is part the halo is stuck in.

heh, That happened to me too (top part stuck on halo's neck)
Let us know if you can't get it off.

I suggest that you start looking into buying a new feedneck. If you're using a halo, a lowrise works best with it. I suggest you browse ebay, a couple users on here love them (including me.) Not to mention, the stock feedneck is too high for my tastes. Good luck!

yea, I know what you mean about it being too high, but is the gated feed better for the speed with a halo? I don't want all the balls bouncing back up and stuff. If I do get a new feedneck it'll be a clamping lowrise.

Gated feed is useless for a force fed hopper. Ditch it, it will only slow your halo down.

noticibly? i think not. I have no need for my gated feed, but its broken in so they flex with very little force...bascially i'm too lazy to take it out

hrm, ok so gate feed isn't needed, thats good to know. I'm gonna start looking into a nice chrome clamping low rise

I checked and they were "buy it now" priced at $25.(clamping feeds)The same guy has a ton of them on all the time so you could probably get away with bidding on one and getting it for $20.Well worth the money IMO.

Yeah, and if you can't but a new rise right now. Jstu get the halo out and then Epoxy or use some type of very strong glue and glue the top back on until you get a new rise.

Well, I got the Halo off. I almost popped a blood vessal doing it, but its off. I was looking at those same low rises on ebay. It'll be like $35 + with shipping etc for me because I'm from Canada. But I have exactly $35 right now so I'm going to pick the earliest one and hope to get it mid next week. Thanks for the help guys.
