Sounds interesting, but its expensive enough where I'd have to see it to be swayed into buying it. If you want to spend money, also look at the Longbow system.

So, has anyone had any real experience with this system? I don't mind the $$$ if the claims are true about improved pattern. Even if your buddy has one, what does he say?

I have a hammerhead system. I was shooting 12 month old RPS paint through the hammerhead and my stock angel barrel this weekend. The angel barrel held about an 24 inch circle pattern of 20 shots at about 30'. The hammerhead held about about an 8 inch pattern at same distance. The hammerhead also never broke any balls, the angel barrel broke 3 balls throughout the day (remember, it was old paint). As for the sound, it quieted down the gun from the enemy's standpoint, but is about the same for the shooter.

"As for the sound, it quieted down the gun from the enemy's standpoint, but is about the same for the shooter."
did you actually test this claim? and are the people youre shooting at "the enemy"? I bought this barrel and took it back the next day to get my $- it doesnt do everything thats advertised. sorry to say it, but my freak is better.
I must say though, it does shoot further than any regular barrel, but accuracy is affected by the rifling (sp?)
DON'T LISTEN TO THE HYPE

Yes I "tested this claim". I may not be the best at writing articles about equipment, but this barrell really made a difference. You and I are starting to do this way to much dUCt tAPe. I am sorry you did not benefit from what this barrel has to offer. But I have also not used the Freak system yet, I will have to try it out.

What the hell, you desperately search to find a topic that is over a month old, just to add your very significant feedback of "freak sucks"
What an ass.

i just looked at their site, and i didnt seem to say much
a quick look at pbreview.com shows that hammerheads were designed by the government (?)
and people seem to either love them or hate them.
few people complained about accuracy past 35'
personally im not sure that rifled barrels will benefit performance in paintball, if im wrong then ill be the next to buy. but until i get a chance to try one out ill stick with smooth bore
another thing i just noticed on their site is that to order one barrel you cant choose your bore diameter??

rifling sounds like a bad idea to me in paintball

I actually own a hammerhead. The barrel actually is very consistant when it comes to accuaracy. The reverse porting actually makes this very quiet when you are downfield. The price is a little steep, but I feel it's worth it.This barrel won't break paint when you come across the odd size ball in a bag. I just wish they made the fins in black. Just my opinion.----Mark

I borrowed it and played 2 games of xball with it at cup, it shot well enough to pick off a hopper across the field

See, love it or hate it. I own one, I'm looking at getting fin kits for it later in the year. So far, this is MUCH more accurate thanm the 3 barrels that came with it when I bought it. The quiet claim IS true, I've been downfield of my friend while he changed barrels from Hammerhead to a Dye. The Dye was louder and had a distinctive sound. He was shooting an Angel 2k2 LCD. When he shot with the Hammerhead, all I heard was a soft pop, when he shot the Dye it was more like a "bam."
There's definitely truth to the sound claim. Its up to you though, in the end :notsure:
