My IR3 will be here tomorrow or wednesday I'm wondering what the first things I should do with the gun..besides read the manual over and make sure everything is there.

what exactly happens during this "break-in period"? does the gun not work right at first? does it chop? then all the sudden fix itself? just wondering....cos i've only shot about 3 cases through mine so far

the break-in period mostly just blows out the thick coat of packing grease.
after that you should see +/-3 on the chrono with properly matched paint-to-barrel size, and consistent paint.
Prior to that you MAY find the chrono a little inconsistent, but frankly my IR3 was good to go right out of the box.
If you really want to be thorough, after you shoot about 5-8 cases, it wouldn't hurt to put an LPR guage on it and check the pressure. An IR3 should be set to 95psi.
