I have been playing paintball for about a year and a half with a Tippmann, and I need to know a few things before purchasing an Angel (I want a Dark Angel IR3 Orange Dust). Please don't flame and try to explain what everything means to the best of your capability.
Here's what I can think of off the top of my head..
1.) What parts are absolutely essential?
2.) How would I go about refilling Nitrogen tanks?
and
3.) Is this a good IR3 setup (based on research)?
-Dark Angel IR3 Orange Dust
-Angel A.I.R. 68/4500 Silver
-VL Evolution II Y Board Clear
-WDP Compact Drop Forward
All help grately appreciated. Thanks in advance.

you have all the essential parts in your setup right there, you might want to look at a barrel set for the best accuracy
and why dont you just ask at the field how to fill the nitro tank? i'm sure someone would show you no problem, they are actually easyer to fill than co2 tanks IMO
also are you buying this angel brand new of the internet or is it from a store, if from a store make sure you're getting the latest board software which is MEM6
hope that was helpfull :)

I live in a small town, there is no local field, I just play in the woods with a bunch of my friends, none of them have Nitrogen-powered guns. I'm planning to buy the gun from the Warped Sportz site. Is there anyway to get an upgrade after the purchase? And yes, your post was helpful, Thanks.

well the easyest solution to fill up your tank is to get a scuba tank and a fill station, i hope diving is popular there otherwise i dont know how you would get that filled,
and what upgrade are you talking about,
also how come you wanna get an angel if all you do is play in the woods once in a while? just wondering

I just assumed that you were saying that if I bought it online, that I would be getting a previous version of the board software. I have always wanted to get an Angel, for it's reviews, looks, and to basically cream my friends. I'll check later this wee if the local store does any refills, I'm on vacation.

no, if you buy it online you will get the newest board, if you buy it from a store you woulld have a small chance of getting an old board, but seeing as pb isnt popular there, there probably aint no store

Well, i would highly suggest going to the nearest store that carrys an IR3 and test it out personally, im not sure if ur local pro-shop carrys them, but i'd search around a little and find out if there are any stores that carry Angel products around you, judging from the info given, that may be quite a long drive, but itll be worth it. You should go and test out the gun you want, or at least an IR3, that way, you can better determine if u like it or not, I've shot Tippmanns and they are very very different from an electro marker, let alone an IR3. You should go and ask the store if you can get the feel of the gun, and then fire it, then go and buy it from Warped Sports, they have a Lifetime Warentee (sp?) so if anything goes wrong, just send it back and thell fix it up. Also, keep your options open, so if you dont like the feel, go and check out some other markers. I would also browse this forum and look up some threads on matinance, standard gun issues, keeping ur marker up and running and all of the stuff that you need to do. Moogle has already answered your questions about filling your tank and such, but if you have any other questions, the search feature is a great tool, so if u have any problems with your marker or setup, most of them have probably been answered already, so just check there. The best advice i could give is learn as much as you can about paintball and your marker, judging from your dream setup, u will have a better setup than some tourney level players (which may be the next step for you if you continue playing, start playing some speedball then get into some local tourneys, but its all up to you), so your friends wont stand a chance...But all in all, u will be simply amazed when you pick up and fire that marker, speechless infact, i know i was, especially if your coming from Tippmann.
Another really good peice of advice i can give you, is dont tell ur friends about ur new purchise untill you get it and play...then take a picture of the looks on their faces when you whip that baby out and paint your town red, pink, green, and what ever other color paint you have (well, not literally.....lol)

Yep, give em the suprise attack on the field. They'll be so busy trying to look at it, they won't notice you're painting their masks all kinds of colors.

I've been saving for a while, lol. I dropped the A.I.R from the list and I plan on getting a cheaper system and a few items to customize the gun such as barrels and backplates and stuff.

You don't really need adjustable air system for an IR3, a preset will do just fine, emphisis on "need" because they are always nice to have, but not an essencial. Also, have you looked into the Speed? I know you said Dark IR3, but a Speed is worth looking into...

Ya, I've looked into the Speed. At first I couldn't make up my mind, they are both good guns. I like the IR3's LCD, and I like the Speed's cost and performance, but when I saw the Orange Dust with the goldish grip, I just decided to try and get the IR3 (probably sounds kind of silly - http://www.warpedsportz.com/warped/800/Paintball/Markers/DaIr3/orangedustLG.jpg ). I just wish the Speed came in Orange Dust with a goldish grip, that would save me some money probably, but I love orange. Also, what other air system can you recommend?

You shouldnt have any problems with a preset nitrogen tank, the decision of the brand is up to you and whats in your price range. If you could afford an adjustable tank, go for it: Air America's Armeggedon tank, Mac-devs conquest, Smart parts Max-flow, Angel A.I.R, they are all good adjustable tanks. As for Presets, PMI has some good ones (i once had a 88/3000 {88= cubic inches of the tank, and 3000= the max preassure of the tank, 3000 psi, if u didnt already know} PMI preset tank and had no major problems with it).
http://store.yahoo.com/actionvillage/paintball-gas-systems-nitrogen-systems.html
There you can browse through the different types of tanks and decide which you would like, just make sure you NEVER EVER EVER use CO2 on your Angel if u didnt already know...lol

Ok thank you delinquient, I noticed you live in Boston. My dad lives in Waltham. I have one last question before I move onto final decisions: Is it possible to get a Speed in the Dark IR3 Orange Dust colors?
delinquent54
08-08-2003, 12:53 PM
Well, to answer you question, no. The Speed only comes in 3 colors: dust silver, dust black, and dust blue. As for the Speed demon (the version of the speed made by Warped Sports) That comes in dust black, red and pewter, but i have also seen fades coming out. Expect more colors by them in the next month or so, but im not sure on orange. Enjoy your new marker.

And Waltham is not to far away from here, only about a 45 minute tops.

have you seen the new angel 4? they're gonna be released in a few weeks for $1350 and are basically an ir3 with speed internals, you could also take a look at that one

I honestly can't decide between the Orange Dust IR3, a Black Dust Speed, or a Black Dust A4. The IR3 and the A4 are expensive, so I probably couldn't afford to get an A.I.R for it. The Speed and A4 out-perform the IR3 by a good margin and are low pressure. I can probably rule out the IR3, but I'm still left with the choice between the Speed or the A4. The A4 has the LCD and a few little new features, and is also about $400 more than a Speed.
P.S. delinquient, do you know of any quality paintball shops in the Waltham area so I could check out the guns next time I'm over my dad's house?

As a matter of fact i do... Performance Angel (one of the sponsors here at AOG) is in Ma. but im actually not sure what city its in, i intend on looking there, though, for my new speed. Its a WDP certified tech center, so you can have it serviced there aslwell. There link is http://www.performanceangel.com/
Also, i hear Paintball Wizard is a good place to look into. They are located in Tewksbury, not exactly sure how far that is from Waltham, but the drive might be worth it, there link is http://www.paintballwizard.com./

they dont really outperform the ir3 by much actually, i've shot speeds and own an ir3 and i can say there isnt much difference, and also by the time the a4 is released look forward to a price drop in ir3's

I would get what ever one you like more. You could get a speed and put a nice adjustable on it, or get a ir3 or A4 and put a preset on it. It is up to you but like you said I would rule out the ir3. Get a speed or A4 but that is just my opinon...
Sincerely,
