View Full Version : haloB + my finger = shredder

i've gone through the few halo related threads and havent come across anything too specific to my problem.

the problems seem to indicate either a detent issue and/or a black shell paint issue. but neither are not valid reasons. here's what's happening ...

i was using "rec sport" (crappy small bore paint) with purple shell. the motor will run intermittenly (similar to priming cycle) even though the stack is full AND with 2 balls in the barrel. so ... force feeding. first thought of course was .. my detent is poo.

wes (another player) had a few new detents and loaned me one. when i did a visual comparison i immediately spied a difference. the ball in mine was noticably "further in" the detent housing than his. i popped it on and noticed a *slight* improvement .. but the halo would still forcefeed and i made more milkshakes out the barrel. :puzzled:

i then tried a few pods of medium bore worr paint (half black/yellow shell). arrow straight shots until the halo started to forcefeed again during the "false" priming cycles. this is not paint related .. something is clearly wrong with my halo.

is this a known problem with halob motors/sensors?

i'm going to call up odyssey tomorrow but was wondering if you guys could lend some helping hints in the mean time.

gratz

might just be a bad halo...i've seen it a lot where the halo's dont work correctly from the factory. You should be able to return it for a ew one. I dont ahve a halo, but it probably has a bad sensor or something like that

i just spoke to the guys @ odyssey ...

apparently you can adjust the eye sensitivity via a potentiometer on the back circuit board. i was told a 1/4 turn clockwise to turn it down a bit.

it was also suggested to set the dwell to 17 (currently @ factory default of 14). i'm going to purchase a few detents as well just to cover all the possible bases.

this is good news imo ... everything can be fine tuned including the hopper. of course .. that's just more rope to hang myself with .. hehe

Aha! Let us know how this works. I'm in the middle of atlanta right now so I can't test my HaloB, but I'll try this when I get a chance (I have the SAME problem).

welp .. the dial on the pot seems to work the opposite of what i was told. a 1/4 turn COUNTER CLOCK WISE decreases the motion sensitivity of the eye. oh btw .. the dial can only be turned ~100degrees in either direction from straight "center".

havent hit the field yet and probably wont this weekend considering it's raining cattle here in houston.

BUT .. doing some finger wiggle tests confirms the new lower sensitivity. there definitely should be a difference .. good or bad has yet to be determined.

let me know how it works out for you man. =)

will do- but my IR3 won't be back in my hands until I go home next friday to get ready for the South Atlantic NCPA tournament. But after that, I'll be sure to let you know (even though I'll likely be shooting an Evvo II by then.. I'm sick of this crap).

Exactly. Maybe I'll keep the HaloB in my bag when I'm DEFINATELY going to be playing back and hanging out there the whole time, but other than that, I think the EvoII will be on top of my IR3 when I play.

I have had the same problems with my B. Sent it in and supposibly changed everything it in! Still had problems odyssey
sent me a less sensitive eyes no help. Sent my IR3 and Halo in again to Odyssey they took it to world cup and gave it to wpg
to make adjustments. Havent got it back yet but odyssey told me that I now have the opti trigger, upgraded software and new software for the Halo B installed into the IR3. So I am definately waiting to see what I have once I get it back!!!!!!!!!!
Was not told about the dashpot on back of board but if all this doesnt work then I will try that.

Just played a 7-game tournament with my new EvoII.

Saw 4 or 5 Halos go from creating absolute SOUP in IR3's, Matrices, and even cockers, to just plain dying.

The EvoII was great except for a minor incident where I had a football block the feed port, so I had to dump my hopper and physically remove it. Other than that it fed INSANELY fast with no hitches.

I sold my HaloB. The EvoII was too fast, light, and reliable to not play with again, and the backward placement of the hopper honestly helped me play tighter when coming around the side of my standup bunker. I only had one hopper hit all day and that was on the feed neck.
