I currently have a Mamba iR3. I am definitely getting an A4. I am waiting for the Dark, Mamba and Impacts to come out and deciding which one I like better.

I keep hearing September, we'll just have to wait and see. Cobra didn't change their milling from LCD to iR3 though.

When I last talked to the guys at Cobra, which was about 2-3 months ago they said they were definitely going to be doing a Mamba A4. They also mentioned that the milling will at least be similar with the IR3 and LCD if not the same, and that they will probably be a dusted ano with tattoo. I was told to expect a release date within 4-6 weeks of the A4, which at the time was just referred to as the new marker from WDP, so that would put in September some time, unless there are any problems.

When you say "unless there are any problems" are you refering to the SP pending patent? That could be a Cobra killer. Grrrrr!!!!

If your cobra ir3 is so fantastic, why bother getting a cobra a4? a $2,000 gun, or however much a cobra ir3 cost, should last you some quite some time. Just beacuse a new gun comes out doesnt make the cobra ir3's performance any worse, it will still shoot just as well as it did before the A4's release.

for the most part it's human nature to want the best you can possibly have. I'll leave it that.

i get a sense that some of you are jealous, maybe because you bought a speed and now this will be coming out or maybe you cant afford it or something, fact is, if the cobra A4 comes out, it will be THE BEST marker on the market at the moment hands down.
captncrunch
08-02-2003, 02:24 PM
well it's preference on what you want to shoot, I won't say it's the best, but that I will most likely be getting one. I do agree with you though that some speed owners are a little bitter. You can't really have a best marker because other things are always coming out and a lot of it does have to do with preference. The new timmys that are coming out in a few months are supposed to be sick, and things in the matrix world are constantly expanding also, with mods, the matrix can be just as efficient as any other gun, anyone can get eyes now, ect. years ago, the angel was the best because it was the only good marker, there are so many good markers out now, you can never have the "best"
just my .02

I agree with you some what, i did say the "best" at the moment.
My point about some people being jealous had nothing to do with preference, that wasnt my point. I know its all about preference, my point was that even though many people have known about this gun coming out, and knowing it was going to be close to the speeds release, it seems most people are upset (jealous) that they spent money on the speed without knowing of this gun when in fact, both of the guns were talked about at the same time prior to both releases.
I honestly dont think its fair for these people to be bad mouthing WDP when all they are doing is supplying a marker for all types of people, those being the ones that dont want all the buttons and bells, and those that do.
EDIT: It looked like a 4 year old kid typed this, hope it looks better now.

Cap'n is right, you can never have the best marker... But I will say I am happy with mine. And that the Cobra A4 will be sick...

From Walter Louchios of Cobra:
"We are (and have been) planning to release a Cobra/Mamba A4 (not sure yet what its official name will be).
We are hoping to release the gun around Sept/Oct.
Hope this helps. Once we have pictures and info, it will be released on our site."

I also got this from Ed Poorman of Warped Sportz reagarding the Dark A4:
"It will be available by early October, I know that sounds like a long time
but we still have not finished the body design and we want to make sure its the business."

theres always a first time though...i would imagine however that the ws and cobra ir4 (u know what i mean) will be the most awesomeist coolest sweetest looking gun out there, when u look at a IR4 u can see a lot that can be done to it, almost like it was made to be milled more...and with that said this is my 1,000 post (wohooo)

I thiunk the stock milling is VERY bad ass, and in fact it will be hard for Warped and Cobra to put out a better looking milling job, we'll see though.

cobra is going to release their angel in october but is it the speed or the a-4?

i am waiting for the cobra A4 myself. ive always loved the cobra milling and they have the best aftermarket parts(i think). my freind travis has a black mamba ir3 and it is the most beautiful peace of art around. i love the way my speed looks and shoots but this thing desimates all, plus he can rock any angel like no one else i know. it leaves some nice marks too (physical/emotional).
you can never have the best for long. it can be the best for maybe a couple months but thats it. and it is only the best to people who like that brand of markers. we all know that currently (before the A4 is on the feilds with the public) the speed is the best gun their is, but i know numerous people who dont like them, it is all hype and preference. my freind larry and kyle keep moving from timmy impulse angel timmy impulse angel etc. what ever they are usin at that moment is to them the best. ever since i shot my first angel i knew i HAD to have one, i ditched my other guns and bought my brothers LED i fell in love with angels, and have never gone back. yesa i have bought other types of guns but those were for reasons i am not goin to take time to mention rite now.

Hey K-Dog are they making a Cobra version Trigger for this?

One thing you guy's gotta keep in mind, is that cobra is now starting to sell their mamba's w/o the Warranty for much cheaper. Take a look at their web page, Cobra iR3 with warranty = 1600; Cobra iR3 with out warranty = 975. So the Cobra A4 might be cheaper than you think...

I was at Cobra yesterday to pick up my new speed. They are still apparently in the early stages of the milling design for the Cobra A4. It may not be the mamba milling we know it as but who knows.

I haven't heard 100%, but Cobra has made a stick trigger for every angel and I am almost sure it will be the first part they make for the A4.

Thanks Angel for those kind words about my baby. How are those welts healing up?
The word from Cobra is that their new gun will be an A4. Probably with the Mamba milling that we have all come to know and love. They also mentioned that they will more than likely be dust with tattoo, due to the popularity of the IR3 line that had tattoos. Typical Cobra upgrades also apply. Keep your eyes open, Cobra has never made an ugly Angel.

The mamba milling will not fit on an A4 and I don't know if they will shrink it by a half inch to make it fit. Don't be disappointed if it's not the sweet mamba milling we know. Perhaps Cobra will out-do themelves and come up with an even sexier milling!

Cobra makes nice guns. No doubt about it. I find it amusing, however, how we can get so worked up about external appearances when internally every Angel of a certain model year is pretty much the same as any other. (I suppose the same applies to Timmies, Matricies and others.) The warranty can't be the overriding factor because you can get a "stock" one from one of the AOG sponsors or elsewhere that also come with lifetime (and in some cases transferrable) warranties. I think for me, at least, the question is going to be how the A4 compares to the Speed in terms of performance and if they're similar, whether the price differential is enough to justify getting one over the other. For the time being, I'm quite satisfied with the performance of my LCD, iR3, and the other assorted antiques that I play with.

True, the milling and anodizing is going to to be the only difference in the Cobra 4, but oh what sweet and sexy milling it is bound to be as long as the guys at Cobra continue the good work.
I know that my Mamba IR3 is the same as every other IR3, but she is definitely a sexy bitch that demands attention, respect, and as many stares as she can get.
Madd props to Chris and Walter!!!!!! :)
they need to machine out a new space frame IMO not that fugly POS
