I would say the "A" stands for angel and the "4" stands for 4th generation.

GO JABBSTER!!! Wahooo. That gun is bootyful. Makes me sweat everytime I look at it.......
led, lcd, ir3, speed, a4. Wouldn't this be the A-5? Maybe tippman owns the rights to that name... I believe the A stands for angel, and I'm not even counting the v-6 angel.
i beleive the 4 is because it is the 4th incarnation of the 14 way valve.

the Speed is the bridge from the ir3 to the A4...but its alot closer to the A4 since the A4 is based on the speed..i guess you can say its in a class all its own...

Good point Skel, you know some peoplpe would confuse the Tipmann with the Angel too. But I can see this as an A4, since it and the Speed use the same technology.

hm, i think I'll wait for the angel 5 or watever it turns out to be named. that wasnt wat I really had in mind as the next gen. angel.
same here, I like the name IR4 a lot better. Calling this gun 'The Four" doesn't sound right to me. Oh well, WDP does what WDP wants.

Hi Everyone,
Well something worth mentioning that has not been posted yet about the A-4 - Although full auto will be capped at 13 BPS you will however be able to program the burst rate up to 20 or 22 BPS.

The A4 is a speed with an LCD and shoots faster

No,
the 4 is like the speed with IR3 functions that doesnt mechanically shoot faster but has a faster bolt giving it the extra one ball per second

What's in a name. It's simple, you go with the original.....Speed. You have to ask the question where, when and how the word Speed has been used in History and why? What History is behind A4? Not an original, as identified by A5. Speed and big brother IR3 Cobra Mamba are closer to the original. Let's not forget that WDP were slipping in their public offerings for markers in the$1000.00 US category as other manufacturers were having their lunch. To the upside, there is the downside of an A4.... Add a do-it-yourself trigger, neat for a do-it-yourself-adjustment, saves time and money to the consumer but the guy who can lose? your friendly tech and his 1/2 hour paycheck.
