Ok, my friend just got a black dust speed, I have a blue dust speed. My speed has been acting really weird and I have had to adjust the lpr and dwell a lot to get the fps under 300. Yesturday, I took my speed and his speed and set up the lpr psi exactly the same (82psi), the dwell exactly the same (3dots) and the minireg the same (almost screwed in all the way). I took them to the chrono and fired his gun, his was shooting at about 280's and then I fired mine it read 340's. We both have high pressure tanks, except his is 4500 and mine is 3000. What can cause this drastic raise in the fps, between my gun and his gun?

is it the same tank or is it different brands

Same tank, pure energy 68ci, just different pressures, mine is 3000 his is 4500

They might be both high pressure tanks, but the outputs can be different. You'd have to check to be sure. The mini reg in his might also have a stiffer spring stack, allowing him to regulate the pressure down more. Different markers have slightly different tolerances too, but I'm putting my money on tank or mini-reg. If it still works though, no reason to start replacing stuff.

Why would you unscrew the mini-reg on both markers to the same spot? If the output pressure is differen't, then the mini-reg will have to be different. Screw the mini-reg in until you get the desired velocity.

He just did it as a comparison experiment. He's already got his speed to shoot under 300.

That's pointless. IF the output pressures on the tanks are different, obviously he's going to get different results.

:dito: All tanks even if they are preset at 800psi and are exactly the same can actually have different outputs. It probably wont be 800psi on the dot, it could be a little more, a little less, or a lot more, or a lot less. I would go and find out your EXACT ouput to make sure its not like over 850 into the 900s or more.

I'll put my friends tank on my gun to see if it makes a difference.. They did have the same output so I thought identical settings would be almost the same.

yeah, if you get the about the same fps, then your tanks output is a little off.

hmm i had a highpressure center-flag 68/45 and the site says its output pressure is 750. at iao i went to the wdp tech and he put measured the output pressure to be in the 850's....so i bought a low pressure output of 450 and i'm all set..

use the 68/45 tank, and try each reg on the 2 guns. if they come out the same its the tank is the problem. if they shoot different then the minireg is the problem. my guess is because the higher pressure is in the 68/45 it comes outhigher. preset regs are know to go up to over 1000 psi output on a full fill.
