Ive heard that WDP sells first and second batches of angel and that the second ones are defekt like in anno and milling and stuff for a lot cheaper than the "good" ones

and the companys sell them for the same price and if they do would i be able to look it up with my serial nr

I highly doubt that WDP would tarnish it's image or it's product's image with sub-standard quality merchandise. The disadvantages of such a business move would far outweight any advantages.

I would question the source of your information as that party probably has something against Angels (like not owning one) and feels better by spreading such stories.

Maybe Danne is referring to the "tarnished" Angels that WDP sells at their show room in England for an adjusted price. I've read they do it, but I also read about people showing up there expecting to get a deal and WDP not haing any in the store.

Like any manufacturer, WDP are victim of some sub-standard anno work from annodisers etc

These markers/air are therefore offered as a second and marked as such on the retail box. I have had a 'second' IR3 in the past and to be honest, never found out what the cosmetic fault was on it!

As BruceLeroy states however, they don't always have them as they don't always get cosmetic faults but you can sometimes get 10-15% off the normal price for a second...

Is there any way to find out if you have a tarnished angel

If you can't tell obviously, it should be fine. Benfrain mentioned that its marked on the box, start looking there.

I've never heard of any of this, but, if this is true I am sure WDP only sells them at live booths. If you bought yours out of a store or online, it's fine.

NO - WDP will never sell markers to my knowledge that have performance faults, it simply isn't worth their while.

I don't believe all markers are run up and tested before leaving the factory as I have had two IR3's that had leaks around the flash tank when I first had them. After a little tightening and lubing they were fine.

I'm sure they spot check them though, maybe they do test them all and I was unlucky, I don't know for sure. The white marks will be from where the bolt takes the anno off at a guess, which happens after a few cycles anyhow so nothing to worry about.

If you have the original box it will have a little white rectangular sticker where the serial and model details are that says 'second'. If you bought it second hand and someone has removed it you may see a little sticky mark where the sticker was.

Having said that, let me reiterate, the seconds are incredibly good, the first one I had I couldn't even tell where the supposed blemish was! Nothing to get concerned about. :D

As for testing the markers, they probably pull random markers off the line and test them. You probably got one of those, explaining the wear in your breech.

Ok thanks

And now a noob question what is the 14-way?

WDP tests every marker they make, that is why all new angels such as LCD's and IR3's have like 120 shots on the counter, they air them up and test them to make sure they work

I don't have any writing from WDP saying my marker is a "second" but looking at the poor ass anodizing job would sure lead me to think it was!

I kinda misunderstood the original post from danne h as asking whether the first batch of any new angel is made to spec and then 2nd bathes and so on made to a substandard spec to save money. My bad.

Sort of off topic, to comment if they test them all....

I have heard of a fair number of angels that don't work out of the box, so I certain they don't test them all. I know of a dealer that had 3/3 leak and or not even fire out of the box. all DOA.

However any good dealer would never just order in a marker and hand it to you with out testing it first, if at possible. if not possible they should have a policy that bring it back with all your goodies on it and they will get it working, not leaking.

I have never seen or heard of a second in Canada. Wasn't even aware they would ship them here. The new ones are getting bad enough rep here with out sending us seconds. With luck they will keep them on the other side of the pond. We have enough used IR3's now that the speeds are out. So if you want to save cash.. buy a used IR3, that works and is pretty.
