I'm wondering what the bennifits are of having one. Other than being able to shut off the air when you want, I can't think of another.

what else do you expect it to do?

i guess you save a little air with a on/off because it wont leak when you take that tank off, but that shouldnt even be a issue

You can only use the Cobra On/off thumb screw for older style (front of reg is flush with the body) air regs.

do you mean a type of mini 1/8 ball valve that goes inline with the macro line/ ss hose to the inline reg or a cobra thumb adjustment. Because with the little valve inline, you can shut the air off to your gun, but the reg is still pressurized, which isn't good for long periods of time. It would only be useful when you are adjusting/tinkering/fixing when it would be a hassle to use the allen key to turn it on and off.

When one backs off the allen screw untill its flush with the front reg doesn't that depressurize the output section of the a.i.r.?

pretty much...you back that screw out and shoot out all the air until the display says Lo-P.....then the reg is off...
The Cobra thumb screw will only work on the old style regs, it will not work on the new style.
