View Full Version : Low Rise for Speed?

Hey everyone I know I have posted this in the chat thread but no one seems to be reading it there. Sorry if this is a repost, I did do a search and came up with nothing.
I have a dust silver speed and I'm looking to put a low-rise on it. I can't find one that is dust silver. Anyone have any suggestions on what low rise I should put on my speed? I would appriciatte it if you would just give me a link to one you think would best fit a silver dust speed. It doesnt have to be dust silver either, any color scheme that you think would look cool is also appriciated. Thanks a lot everyone. Also, I have an evo2 and I sanded down the feedneck to fit the stock high rise on the speed. So it would be great if the low rise you suggest would be able to fit a sanded feedneck of the evo2. Thanks a lot!
Sincerely,
BONES

i have a black wdp twist lowrise and it looks nice on the silver gun, especially with a black barrel, but the feedneck is the same as the stock feedneck, so your sanded evo 2 should fit, my halo did.

Wow didn't see any A+ Low Rises on Flea-Bay...so I just ordered it from them directly. I hope I didn't over pay too much, and I hope the Silver Dust is a good match with my Speed Silver Dust. BTW, how much were they going for on Flea-Bay???

I paid $33 + $8 shipping, let's see if the $15 was worth it for the SILVER DUST. Will report back with color match results. Possibly even pictures, if I can figure out a way to post them.
Here's a dumb question... Do you just unscrew the old feed tube and rescrew in the new one? I tried to unscrew it last night with no success. I didn't want to use tools and risk scratching anything, and I wasn't sure if there was locktite involved and a little heat was needed.

Heat will ALWAYS help, loctite involved or not. Makes the molecyles in the material "looser"

Yes you do unscrew the old high rise and yes you do screw in the new low rise you bought. Yes loctite is in there, WDP put some on. I would recommend (Since you don't want to scratch your marker) you get cloth or something and wrap it around your high rise and then take pliers (sp) or something and try to unscrew it.
I have also heard of people taking hair dryers and putting them blowing the hot air into the feedtube to try to "melt" the loctite a little bit, and then they unsccrew it.
Good luck and good luck with pics.

CAUTION.. DO NOT USE A TOWEL AND A WRENCH!!! YOU WILL SCRATCH THE HELL OUT OF YOUR PRODUCTS..
Now getting that out of the way and 2 rises later.. use a strap wrench.. wont damage anything, and put an incredible amount of torque on any piece you need to remove! Trust me.. Unless you want to jack your newly bought low rise ie:$35.. do this!!!
jdp72
07-23-2003, 01:56 PM
I was thinking of using the strap wrench... Would it be wise to put some blue loctite on the new feed tube, or should I not worry about it. (I will never use RED again, especially after a stripped head/E-Z out incident on my Harley... Major PIA!)
BONES
07-23-2003, 02:33 PM
Yeah use a less strong loctite.
PS how are the pics coming?

The feeder tube and volumizers should be here by Friday, so I can take pics then. Can anyone host my pics when I get them ready? I'm not sure how to post them on here...

No problems opening the breech... It's low, but not that low... The door can still swing open. There are only 2 issues with it:
1. The finish is so smooth that I cannot get a good grip on it, not like THE GRIPPER for the cocker. So really tighening it down is tough.
2. There is like a 2 mm gap all around it, as the stock one was slightly thicker... So if you take a low hopper/feedtube hit and you get paint or shell in there good luck getting it out.
Consequently if you take a hit there, good luck trying to take off your hopper for the day. The paintball oil and the smooth finish make it IMPOSSIBLE to get a good grip to take it off.

question for all you aplus owners, have you guys found a good way to tighten down your halos? mine still rocks a bit even though it may be tight and not turn.

I've got the same issue no matter what I slap on top of it... I've used paper towel, which sorta works. It just looks goofy to have a >$1k setup with papertowel sticking out of it.

so all you guys with a+ rises, howd u get your old feed off? and did you use any loctite?
acoenfam1

We've discussed removing the feed tubes before run a search. As for locktiting the new tube yes use red locktite to secure your new feed.

well i figure siunce this was a whole thread on the lowrise's id ask here. blue lock
tite is cool right?
jdp72
09-10-2003, 04:34 PM
I suggest using BLUE over RED in most all instances... Red is more of a permanent thing.
Getting the stock feed off is a total PIA. Took me an hour of heating and just wiggling back and forth.
