low tide.....The Bowfin is a cool museum over there too, but you've got to like Submarine history. I moved before the Missouri came over, but it looks like they put it at Ford Island like planned. Was it a good tour? Are they still doing the Arizona movie, and then you ride the boat out, or do you have to go over to Ford Island now?

what pier did you guys pull into? It doesn't look like the Sierra or the Yankee piers. Looks like the one over by PSD where the Carriers always come in too.

Sweet pics man.. Is the Arizona still leakin'? It's been a bit since the last time I was in Pearl.

I don't think the fog lifted fully the whole time we were there. You could never see the top of the island.
I saw the Bofin and the Arizona last time I was in Pearl, the Arizona pic was taken by one of the guys in my shop. The Missouri one I took from the bridge as we were pulling in. ( I just sit up on the bridge and make sure the Fathometer works during sea and anchor).
I forgot the letter of the pier we were at, but it was in the side, past the small boys and subs, right by the softball field, and very close to the gate.

sounds like you were in a good ways. are you talking about the Makalap gate? The clinic is right there, and if you walk out the gate and go up the hill you get the Exchange and Commisary...

It was pier 3a...or 3 something. The way we were moored our bow was pointing at the Missouri.

Awesome pictures. Makes me want to go back there. Last time I went there I was only 7 years only.

Thanks for pics,

been moored at 3A many times....you can see the softball fields like you said, and the gate that's right there is Makalapa, up the hill is the Exchange like I said, and when I was out there, that was where the small boat harbor was. They have all the boats that do the transport between Ford Island, and the base stored over there, or at least they did when I was there. To get there you have to come in past the tower and hang a left right. That tower on Sub Base is where one of the Admirals watched the entire Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The tower is right in front of the Submarine Squadron buildings, and right across from COMSUBPAC.

TC---yeah there's one of them history type markers at the base of the Tower. The Submarine Squadron building has a really good view of the whole harbor, and you can see the Arizona from there.

lol Eyecare, that'd be about it. A couple of people did have a kiddie pool set up on our flight deck in our 2001 deployment, just a lot smaller. Had a picture of that somewhere too.

AND I'M BACK!!!!!!!!! About time...
I finally got to see the CP set I won forever ago. Turned on the iR3 to start dry firing and the battery died!!! Oh well, couple of hours on the charger and here I sit, clicking away. Gotta get my fingers back up to speed, I'm rusty.

Ha, I was supposed to make that pump as Harrier Det NCOIC but got pulled at the last minute and ended up in Japan on the Essex instead.
