View Full Version : Gutted Mini Reg Question

Hiyas,

I bought the WDP volumizer set at the IAO yesterday, and decided to gut my mini-reg after putting the large one on (running an '03 conquest). However, with the spring washers and ball bearing out of my mini-reg, the pistons rattle around inside the body. Is there any way to eliminate this without restricting airflow? Did I do something wrong?

Also, but (I think) unrelated to the problem, I managed to rip one of the "eyelets" off of my c-clip. It still fits back in the groove securely, but I think I might want to have a few spares on hand if it suddenly vaporizes or some such. Can I buy a suitable c-clip at a hardware store? What size or type is it (I don't know how one measures c-clips)?

Thanks for your help!

Matt

PS. If anyone would like to buy a small or medium WDP volumizer, please let me know and let's see if we can work something out. The WDP tech I talked to at the IAO said that larger volumizers would reduce efficiency on the Speed, so you back players out there... =)

Do they rattle if it's gassed up?
You took the right things out.

about 350 without volumizers. start below 300 and check your fps and adjust as neccessary.

I run a lp max flo and a gutted reg( sorry mine does not rattle ) and I have the 4" WDP volumizer and I have my max flo set at 180psi and 11ms of dwell and I'm shooting at 290fps

i have a question. would opening up the mini reg all the way. to the maximum pressure, then running my conquest in at like 180 w/ volumizers work ok, or would it restrict flow too much? would i just be better off gutting it?

some would say that it would restrict the flow but I think it would be ok. If the minireg is not regulating the air then it is not restricting the flow, but by gutting it you ARE giving the air a bigger space to fill, but hey, that is what volumizers are for.

I wouldn't gut it period. Be safe.

Delayed update to my rattling post for those that are worried (jeezalex). Once gassed up, it stopped rattling, and doesn't rattle any more even when depressurized...I guess it just took the pressure to lodge the remaining internals into place. Working great with my '03 Conquest and Speed with 4" vol...consistant 290fps with ~175psi input and dwell at one yellow light.

Drachen...

what are your chronos like with that setup?
also has it become much quieter.....matrix like per chance?

ok, i have a question. i gutted my minireg, but when i turn my air on i notice a small leak on the top hole. the large piston isn't high enough, and a little air leaks around the top piston oring. it isn't a loud leak, but a small one, and it leaks again a little faster when i turn the air off. could i cur this by maybe just adding one shim to the piston?? cuz i screw'd my velocity screw in all the way, and it quieted it some, but its still there. any suggestions?
