I used my speed for the first time todayand well it wasnt great...but first I should let you know I have an 850 preset java tank tank. Well I had to take the dwell all the way to the seconc green light to get it to go belewo 275 fps....but the problem was it was jumping from like 190- 310. It would probably shoot something like 270,255,263,285,190,210,275,310...etc(this is just an examply..I didnt write them down or anything

i'm not sure but i heard that if your dwell is too low on speeds it will make your consistency frantic, and check your lpr if you have a tool on hand

Yeah, try using a different tank, and see if your problems go away.

I have not shot a ton with my high pressure tank. But when I tested it out down at a local shop I was getting about 305 fps, and the fps could still be turned a lot to lower it. High pressure tanks work for me. I use a 90/3000 preset nitro duck.

ya, but its most likely just the combo of the super low dwell and the HP tank, so raise ur dwell to like 9 or so, then check the fps. If its way too high, check ur LPR and remove some shims.

Also remember that the inline reg needs to "run-in" abit. My consistency was much better after 1 box of paint.
Is your paint good quality and how is your paint-to-barrel match?
I am still running my speed off a 68/3000 preset at 850psi output and my dwell is right down just to keep it under 300f.p.s. A friend of mine has his Air putting out low pressure (around 300 psi I think) and his in-line reg does not need to work as hard and his dwell is very high. His consistency is excellent - much better than mine.
i got my speed down to 180 fps with a centerflag high pressure, i havent tried to go any lower

Okay lets do this in order.
1) Was your paint fresh and consistent. If not (or you didn't check) I am willing to bet it was your paint.
2) Was the barrel to paint match good. If it was slightly too tight an #1 is a factor... your velocity will be all over the place.
3) Check the output of your reg and test its recovery. As long as it recharges fast and in the same spot (which my bet is that it will) you can eliminate that.
4) Check the same with an LPR guage on your LPR. If it recharges quick and does not stop at different points then you can eliminate that.
5) Suposedly having your dwell high can make your velocity more erratic. I really don't think WDP means wide swings in FPS.
Check this out and let us know.
